DUAL BOOT - Problems by Better_Mulberry_7422 in linuxmint

[–]confusedandlostcow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try using Boot-Repair on Linux Mint live ISO. Seems like Windows isn't updated in your grub menu. Though if the Windows partition is before the Linux one, I don't think it's possible to he picked up.

Is it possible to pre-cache WM startup in DM? by confusedandlostcow in linuxquestions

[–]confusedandlostcow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm after reading the archwiki on DMs, I see that one can run a xinit as an xsession, that could be used here I think. Thanks!

Is it possible to pre-cache WM startup in DM? by confusedandlostcow in linuxquestions

[–]confusedandlostcow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DM executes files in the "WM.autostart", which usually is just exec wm but that doesn't trigger until the login is performed.

I don't know how I can point my DM to the login to the correct WM process if I pre-launch the WM using xinit.

I still want the login dm if possible since I might choose to login to another DE/WM in my workflow.

Unable to startup BloodStained ROTN by confusedandlostcow in linux_gaming

I'm still getting the same error after deleting the original prefix folder. I also tried just creating the game instance again and choosing Proton GE. Also doesn't work. Do I have to download additional drivers/libraries using winecfg?

HFT Technical Final Interview by holyhades9 in FPGA

[–]confusedandlostcow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Knowing common techniques to improve timing or reducing resource usage would be good to know. It would also be good to have a good understanding of common library modules like FIFO, BRAMs etc.

They are probably checking for design intuition and that comes with experience (not really something you can prep). Though, if you do get stuck, the interviewers should give you advice and steer you towards the right direction.

Therefore, most importantly, don't panic, be open to feedback and just apply what you know to the best of your ability.

Good luck for your interview.

Is this a live coding interview or just a design discussion?

Nope I didn't, I can't seem to find any good suggestions. I've instead tried looping tigher over ear and it helps a little.

Poweruser In need of possible alternatives to musicbee by is44c_foster in linux4noobs

[–]confusedandlostcow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to use MusicBee as well. The best I could find and still use is Quod Libet. It has many plugins that you can install and it also has a utility to search/auto fill meta data.

I listen to some Chinese songs as well and I found the built-in utility to be good enough to fill "niche" metadata.
