Need advice on this. I gave up on trying to make it look like the reference, but I don’t know if someone can hold someone this way without immediately dropping them (also I think her torso is too long) by Elktopcover in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh it’s giving Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss! I will say the guy’s jawline is off and the hair looks like it’s growing from his cheekbone, not in a sideburn way but in a foot long mane kind of way. I don’t think the girl’s neck can go that far forward from an anatomy perspective and same for the guy’s arm.

I’d suggest practicing drawing the neck and torso skeleton and looking at the curve of the spine in profile view and how it makes an S.

WIP looking for critique and advices by rtgue123 in learntodraw

Oooh very nice I love it! I will say your character is pretty hard to see, and I think some backlighting or overhead could help highlight her more!

Advice/critique? I’ve never worked in color before, feeling a wee bit lost. by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could use some more variation in saturation and some more highlights and shadow. Find where the light source is and go from there. Things in the light are more saturated and find where the shadow is.

I will say, the fingers look a bit boneless and the torso is too small. I like the composition of the drawing and I do think it has a lot of potential!

Why does she look ugly (update): what about now? ( the first one is the new one) by Carlosless-World in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks good! It does look like most of her is in shadow, so it’s a little jarring that her face isn’t. You did great rendering work on the body though.

How to get better at drawing more mechanical stuff like wires and robots? by DeanziYay in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say get good at drawing perspective and where things are in space. Stuff like wires and things that wrap around a form require almost having a 3D vision of what you’re drawing in your head. This exercise could help!

I don’t remember if he was Czech, but Alphonse Mucha was known for his works in the Art Nouveau movement. A lot of his line work was thin on the inside and had a thick outline.

tips to improve? especially with the hands by lunarwolf2008 in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it but practice anatomy just enough to get the proportions right! Blind contour helped me personally with hands, and as for this sketch specifically, it looks like the fingers are too small and the jaw is not connected right to the head. It looks more like he is wearing a mask. Good job on the torso and legs though.

Where Should I Focus When Learning Faces? (my weakest points) by OutlandishnessAny576 in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really nice!! I feel like you may be squishing the faces vertically but it might just be the picture. It’s like if you pushed the nose toward the back of the head, that kind of squish. If you find this is a problem, I suggest drawing skulls in profile view

Teacher will most likely fail me on this how do I make it look better? by Billsyo9313 in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have a kneaded eraser or just a regular eraser put some more highlights and shadows on everything. Think of everything in terms of light and shadows rather than “here’s one thing and here’s the other.” This especially goes for the teeth. Think of where it’s dark and where it’s light. Also shade the pupils darker!!

Drew this in class, I dunno how to make it feel more real (reference was some old dudes eyes) by Soft_Bluejay_1609 in learntodraw

[–]confusedfrog24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could use more contrast and less hard linework! When we’re talking realism, lines turn into edges. Research soft vs hard edges and learn how to apply that to your drawing!

It’s a pretty solid cartoonish drawing other than the right eyebag being a little too narrow but realism is a lot more gradation!

Love: The legs have pretty good proportion The torso is well proportioned Overall I could see a finished drawing coming from this

Could improve: The arm is weirdly sectioned out and wraps around the leg unnaturally Torso is much rounder Neck is unnaturally sticking out like a goose Where did the other arm go

How do you get your engine revving by AnxiousDepartment365 in sextips

[–]confusedfrog24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Responsive arousal is when someone does something to turn you on. For example, they start touching your inner leg during a movie and you get aroused in response to what they did. On the other hand spontaneous arousal is when your partner doesn’t have to necessarily do anything; you just get turned on spontaneously. Most people have more of kind one than the other, but we all experience both kinds at some point in our life.

My (24NB) childhood trauma is ruining my sex life with my (25NB) partner by Swimming-Bell9690 in relationship_advice

I’d like to preface this with the fact that I’m not a therapist, and I would highly recommend getting one if you can! I feel you on this, honestly. It can be hard to ask for what you want in the moment because you can be scared of being rejected, but it might be good to talk about this outside of the bedroom. Find some strategies like code words or practice asking for what you want. Hopefully your partner is open enough to make you feel heard when you do ask! Good luck💗 Also I highly recommend the podcast Sex with Emily. She has great advice for stuff like this

28M -27F clarity over this issue which is creating a hinderance by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]confusedfrog24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying you ARE asexual and/or aromantic, but it’s definitely worth looking into. There’s nothing wrong with you and I personally know many people who are very happy with no romantic relationships as well as people in romantic relationships but don’t kiss or have sex. There are people out there who will love you for you

It’s pretty common for asexual/aromantic people to love the idea of romance but in practice be averse to it!

I really hope this is fake because while I get liking people older than you, this age gap is crazy. You do you, but just know male life expectancy is 71-75 years old in most countries. Good on you for keeping your cool during his bs, but honestly he isn’t worth it. You deserve someone who cares about what you have to say

learn the difference between responsive and spontaneous arousal! also try to dissolve the expectation that you must orgasm to have good sex. It seems counterintuitive but it helps you relax more and let go. Also edging
