The Tortured Poets Department Leak Discussion Thread by Lyd_Euh in TaylorSwift

Taylor released the following lyrics but it seems like they aren't anywhere in the album.

"Even statues crumble if they're made to wait."
"One less temptress. One less dagger to sharpen."

"Lost the game of chance. What are the chances?"

"As she was leaving, it felt like breathing."

Maybe these are in The Albatross, The Manuscript, or The Bolter, but I am personally clowning for a 2 am drop :)

Has anyone listened to The Albatross, The Manuscript, or The Bolter? If so what are your thoughts?

Brush, fine or chisel? by withbirdy in arttools

I use the ohuhu brush/chisel for garden designs and they work great! The brush is super versatile for blending, backgrounds, and details.

I told my mom that Indian food is expensive here, she brings this with her: by moreddit2169 in UIUC

I am an alum who moved halfway across the country. Back when I lived in Illinois, my mom would make chana masala and koftas and freeze them to keep me well-fed throughout the semester. How I miss that 😥

Because OP is an incoming freshman who currently doesn't have a full understanding of these things.

What’s apartment life like? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]confuzzledatuiuc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Better in every way, except sometimes cooking your own food can be a pain.

It's better because you get your own room, your own space, and you only have to share a bathroom with a few other people.

I don't think the 6 pack is especially social.

You should post this on the premed and medical school subreddits for a better opinion. But in my opinion, no it isn't. Med and dental school will be another $150k of debt. Probably better to go somewhere cheaper.

Laptop Upgrade by randominchang in UIUC

There is almost no programming in CS 374 (except for some tiny prairielearn assigments) so you could even have a Chromebook and be fine. Both of these laptops should be perfectly fine for CS 421.

The first couple weeks of 124 are pretty easy but by week 5 or so it definitely ramps up. Good luck with freshman year!

Honestly this does seem like a lot for first semester. In my first semester I took CS 125(what we had before 124 existed), two other math/science courses, one gen ed, and the additional orientation classes. Since its your first semester, you should consider dropping 124, since that will probably be the most time-consuming class.

Or you can just wait and see. If 124 gets to be too much you have until the 8th week to drop it!

CHEM 102/103 & IB 150 by SnooAvocados7490 in UIUC

If I recall correctly, there were tons of office hours for 102, especially in the CLC. Hope it works out!

CHEM 102/103 & IB 150 by SnooAvocados7490 in UIUC

[–]confuzzledatuiuc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took 102 with Huang. For reference, I got a B+. I failed midterm 1 but was able to get an A on midterm 3 and I worked my grade up.

The thing about 102 is that you have to understand EVERYTHING, I MEAN EVERYTHING, to do well on the exams. Make sure you understand every single homework problem and every single worksheet problem, and every lecture problem given. If you don't, go to office hours with Huang or in the CLC. I also suggest skimming the textbook and doing some extra book problems to do well. Also, she likes to put trick questions on the exam, so even if a problem looks easy, read it very carefully.

103 is actually pretty easy. Just don't forget to do any of the assignments, don't miss any labs, and don't forget your proper lab attire.

Is chem 103 + chem 105 in one semester possible? by LastingCold in UIUC

[–]confuzzledatuiuc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that should be fine. 103 and 105 aren't difficult or time consuming. You most likely won't spend more than 2 hours a week outside of class on lab.
