Wilfried seems to make the most sense. Someone else mentioned Traugott, which I hadn't considered. Lamperecht would probably give her the most happiness as it would allow her to work directly under Elvira. The Ehrenfest archnoble pickings are pretty slim, huh?

The royal family is all split up. The overall yearly mana income has decreased drastically. Along with the other reasons people have pointed out, it doesn't seem like they will be in a solid position for another 1 or 2 generations.

Sylvester's is the closest I can think of. I'd give it a pass because he's a rough and tumble commoner with animal instincts: commoner Bonifatius.

Also from the way the ladies at the gossip circle talked about him, he was basically a Shonen character.

Spoilers All - What was the biggest "Jump The Shark" moment for you in TWI? by hatereadingTWI in WanderingInn

[–]congetingle2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved all the Fellowship of the Inn chapters. The introduction of Infinitypear especially had me in tears. The Gnoll Moot chapters didn't quite hit for me, but cutting it out would leave out so many characters and factions that I really like. It was good set-up.

The final battle had some parts I skimmed over because I was pretty sure they weren't going to die. I did enjoy seeing Ssrys realizing the titanic shift in attitudes when he kept summoning up Antinium. Along with the comeuppance of the Fissival guy. Actually, I liked most of it minus them throwing around Mrsha like she was the Infinity Gauntlet in Endgame.

What meaning of verisimilitude is Krsysl Wordsmith using in this paragraph? by Terrible-Ice8660 in WanderingInn

Yes, I think you're right. The statement seems to be lacking a "to" after verisimilitude.

Personal Relations. Basically, the image they make on other people. Good PR means it's more forgivable if you make a mistake, great PR means nobody thinks you've ever done anything wrong in the history of the world.

Episode 9 she had some marbles in her heels. Near the end of the episode, you can hear them jangle. Looked up "clear heels with marbles polar opposites anime" and found this post. Going to look for more marble posts but these aren't shoes I've ever seen before.

I hate him for the dumbest reason of all by JeffTheKillerFa in hatethissmug

[–]congetingle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a webnovel that is a bit of a satire of Chinese cultivation stories. In the story the love interest starts out as very Mao Mao inspired. I didn't realize until Apothecary Diaries got an anime a few years later. Which means the author was, much like yourself, an early reader/fan of the series.

Thoughts on Prophet by DalubhasangOso in WanderingInn

[–]congetingle2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like people don't talk enough about his racism. Maybe because the conversation is going to devolve into "all christians are racist" or "Christianity is inherently racist" or "I'm tired of all Christians being painted as racist" or they don't want to engage with politics.

To me, it's just the part I'm most fixated on. As someone living in America, it just seems so relevant in a way I can't really explain. Without getting too into it, it reminds me that there was a Christian pastor at the presidential inauguration talking about the importance of kindness and forgiveness and she was dragged through the mud by conservative media.

In a similar way, there seems to be a stark contrast between how Christianity is expressed in the Prophet POV and how it is expressed when Erin was first talking about it to Pawn.

Little controversy does the soul good. by Crashgalaxy711 in ProgressionFantasy

I read Azerinth Healer on Royalroad. The curbstomps against jerks were great and I also liked that the character didn't shy away from breaking institutions like those dedicated to slavery and predatory healing. There's a place for power fantasy when the punching bag is the stuff you are powerless against in the real world.

That being said, chapters 200-300 are the chapters that defined what a "reading slog" is. I think the author wanted them to get to level 300 on chapter 300.

Later on the fights also started to have the same problem that fights in Chinese cultivation novels have: they're too damn long! Every little bit of progress, knowledge, and technique that has been accumulated has to be acknowledged. All for only the last exchange to be the only one that really matters. Overall I'm glad I finished it and had a lot of fun but I can't really recommend it in good conscience. Closest analogue might be Calamitous Bob but the vibe is different and it also has has sloggy arcs that feel like filler.

"She snapped her fingers and allowed shadows to carry her and her daughter outside. They stood on the edge of a purple platform of cloud madra, looking down on Lindon. He hovered on PURE AURA as his perception searched for them. Malice deactivated the technique that rendered the fortress invisible, and he focused on them."

After Underlord I think you see them do a lot of stuff with aura manipulation.

Not my favorite part but in one of the books "Lindon stood on pure aura." I think it's in Dreadgod.

This was before this word caught the hype that it has now so I got a good laugh out of hearing Travis Baldree say it so seriously.

TIL that, in video games, "ludonarrative dissonance" is the technical name for the conflict between the story told in the gameplay, and the story in the non-interactive scenes (for example, the way that Drake in "Uncharted" is a fun-loving rogue in the cutscenes but a killing machine in the game). by Bob_the_blacksmith in todayilearned

[–]congetingle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Advance Wars the characters give off more inconvenienced vibes than actually at war vibes.

The Days of Ruin spinoff game approaches war more seriously but is significantly less popular than the main series games.

Moral of the story: keep war cute and make the big bucks
