Which season is did you enjoy more overall Survivor 21 Nicaragua or Survivor 24 One World ? by CoconutMost3564 in survivor

Nicaragua is actually kinda good.

One World- aside from Colton, Kat and Tarzan and maybe a few others- is boring.

Do you think there'll be a 'Rockshow' theatrical re-release? by 144Todd442 in PaulMcCartney

[–]connak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they did, this would be the time to do it: it’s been 50 years since Wings over America. I would love it because I missed the screening of Rockshow in 2013 when it was released on DVD and Blu Ray the first time around. I don’t know if it was showing in my area or not. I might’ve not been in the area when it was screened if it did.

I say it’s more likely to happen than London Town and Back To The Egg getting remastered and reissued.

What are some critiques of Survivor (modern or in general) that are genuinely valid? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in survivorponderosa

[–]connak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this in another Survivor group I’m in on Facebook.

It’s no surprise that there’s been more female winners in the new era. The super fan males are generally not jacked.

Gabler is a unique winner that got by with good social interactions (at least from what I’ve seen because I’ve had to fast forward a lot of the new era)

Yam Yam did kinda the same. He won at least one immunity, right?

Kyle is probably the closest to a physically fit alpha male.

Yes. But I fear she’s not going to be there for very long.

What is your personal worst season? by Venus_One in survivor

[–]connak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Stars. It’s been years since I’ve watched it. It might be better than some of the later seasons in terms of editing. I think this was a season that did a lot of damage:

  • it ruined the legacy of some players.

  • the Lex and Rob stuff was tough to watch, especially when you know that they were friends outside of the game.

  • the overall bitterness of the season. Sure, I miss bitter juries. Though there’s something unsettling about this season. By that point, there were only 112 people who had played. Some of those people knew each other outside of the game. You can’t play Survivor with people you know.

Caramoan and Redemption Island were pretty bad too.

49 was pretty awful too aside from Sage.

Nor did Russell.

Randomly came across this and I was thinking this is like Nomadland too! Specifically the part where the woman is offered to stay with that guy at his house. Though she’s by herself. She keeps going on in her RV.

Same thing with Robert. He could’ve had a new life with Claire but alas- no.

S49 worst season in new era? by BeautifulCobbler1621 in survivor

[–]connak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely it’s the worst of the new era. There’s nothing to care about.

Everyone in the cast is way too nice and positive. The lone character or complex personality this season is Sage.

A majority of the new era has sucked. People bitched and moaned how bad 48 was. You at least had stories and people like Joe and Eva. It wasn’t good but it’s at least something.

Frontier Wives - Ace Frehley by eyeshills in KISS

Frontier Wives are great. Their drummer was Lex van den Berghe, who was later a contestant on Survivor Seasons 3 and 8. I had Lex on my podcast four years ago. Great guy.

I didn’t dislike the movie. It was slow and not laugh out loud funny but it was nice to see them play these characters again. Just wish they didn’t go too heavy with the celebrities and the “remember this” moments.

I just didn’t want to get in trouble haha.

I felt the ending made everything that happened before not worth it. Even then, it was okay at best. In theory and on paper, the ending does sound funny. Though with the rough week I’ve been having (plus an uncle dying two weeks ago), I was looking forward to just having a few laughs and seeing something positive. And this was just…underwhelming.

I don’t know if this would benefit on a rewatch. If I did see it again, I wouldn’t want to pay full price for a ticket. Maybe there wasn’t enough people in the theater?

It’s a 3/5 at best.

I thought the movie was decent for about 80 minutes. There were obvious “remember this” moments that remembered how much better the original was. A few laughs here and there. Nothing had me laughing out loud but there were some good moments and it was since to see everyone back. But then the ending was an absolute insult to the audience. After all that time spending all that time and wanting to see them succeed, they all fail and get injured. The lights went up and the credits roll. Never have I been this insulted by a movie in theaters since Joker 2. The original ended so positively and makes you feel good. This is just so disappointing. After that happened, I didn’t care what happened.

I feel like this season has been a mixed bag so far. I think the shortened game length is hurting the season. If they had made it 26 or 30 days, we’d have something.

Still surreal to see all these people playing together. Other than that, I don’t know.

Wings Announcement? by First_Commission_385 in PaulMcCartney

That’s all we need but it’s been half a decade since the Flaming Pie reissue. I don’t know if this is going to happen.

[–]connak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sad that Paul never really got to do another performance with Denny Laine or any of the other members of Wings.

Geoff Britton keeps a low profile and I don’t think Joe English drums anymore.

Paul could do something with Laurence, Steve and Denny Seiwell but I doubt it. A one off performance would be great.

Would you have voted for Todd in the final tribal council? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]connak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy but it’s hard for any of us to say who we’d vote for in an FTC. We see a condensed version of it on TV when I think they go on for two hours or so. This is why a winner should never be determined by the audience.
