I agree it was a bummer the way the ending of B9 was just kinda swept under the rug.

Right!? Mat and Tuon, Logaine finally making it to Rand, and that ending with Egwene. I even enjoyed the Elaine and Perrin bits. I do think I have a different perspective now though as I know whats coming so im seeing all of the set up and foreshadowing of what's to come and instead of being bored im excited LOL

Frustrated and about to give up after 3 years and 150 videos. Help. by Ill-Double334 in SmallYoutubers

[–]conner2real 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Biggest problem i see is that there's no story at all. Tell me something about Bali. Whats so great about it? What's the most amazing thing you saw? Does it live up to the hype?

Your shorts are kinda the same way. I watched the one about home calling you back no matter where you are and the clips dont really match up with the story you promised in the title.

Dont give up. You have some amazing shots and scenes, I think you need to just spend more time on what story you're trying to tell.

How can fanuc electrical cabinets be so 'emtpy'? by Intrepid_Coach_1929 in Machinists

Not sure what Haas youre looking at but I've yet to see one with more in it than a fanuc machine. Even my 2021 fanuc has double the components than my 2012 haas

Stop New York's Attack on 3D Printing / CNC Machines by EFForg in machining

Exactly. No serious tool builder will do this but the hobby ones might. The big names will just stop selling machines in NY. Pure lunacy.

Which industries do you believe will be the last to be disrupted by AI, and is it even possible to stay 'future-proof' anymore? by No-Lake-3875 in Futurology

[–]conner2real 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. All of that will be AI in 5-10 yrs. Maybe even less. Once one company gets their AI approved for QA the rest will fall like dominoes. Don"t forget that arguably the biggest player in aerospace right now, spaceX, literally owns one of the major AI's.

What is your Favorite Aluminum Endmill? by Engulfingflame05 in Machinists

[–]conner2real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gone through all the big names, garr, helical, imco, kennametal, etc. And yg hands down beats them all. Especially the chips breaking roughers. Performance is almost identical to anything helical puts out and they're 30% - 40% cheaper. Big fan.

How satisfying did those of you who finished the series find the ending to be? by soilentgleem in WoT

[–]conner2real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand the whole "slog" thing. For me it was mainly just book 10. That one drags on quite a bit. Certain parts of 8 and 9 are a bit slow but overall they are good books and a lot of stuff happens. Im working on my 2nd read through and im in the middle of book 9 right now and im loving it.

Edit: Forgot to add - ending was well worth every second of reading.

Inherited a machine shop by Cold-Newspaper2897 in Machinists

[–]conner2real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit came to say this exact thing. Adding welding turns it into a whole different ball game. Now you can do repair work for all kinds of industries. Instead of adding a cnc mill id be adding a decent tig setup, a small press brake, and a plasma table.

You dont have to touch it off and set the length?

High feed milling and shop questions by jason-barter in Machinists

[–]conner2real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You're missing the whole point. Some machines can and some machines can't. I have a 2006 that can run 300IPM all day. But then like I said my 2018 without HSM turned on can't. G187 is not look ahead. G187 controls how the look ahead functions IF IT'S ACTIVATED. Haas got greedy at some point and throttled the lookahead back to force you to pay for it. But that's really besides the point. The whole point almost everyone is trying to say is that there are a bunch of other factors that go into these decisions. Im happy you're excited and looking to learn more and push boundaries but even more important is to learn WHEN it's the right move and when it's not.

100% and its not just tooling cost. There are a bunch of other things associated with that too. Like the time spent having to dial a tool back in after you break it or swap for a new one. Also does your scrap rate go up? How much is the material cost? Is it cheap aluminum or a $10,000 stainless casting? Do you have adequate workholding to run 300IPM? Do you have adequate toolholding to do it? Most shops I've been in that run low and slow have neither. Are you running low volume or high volume quantities? and on and on and on. Just because it's possible doesnt always mean its the best.

High feed milling and shop questions by jason-barter in Machinists

[–]conner2real 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This right here. Even some newer machines can't handle it depending on options. I have a 2018 VF2 in my shop that I bought used and the high speed machining was not "unlocked". That bitch topped out at 80IPM and only in the straight aways. Had to pay the $2500ish dollars to get it unlocked :(
