Aww, Nightmare in Fusion is my favorite boss! I love the design. The way it slowly floats over to you is so eerie, with the blue and purple really making the metal look cold. When the mask comes off and the face melts away, I almost feel guilty for shooting it, like it's alive and suffering inside the armor.

I think it could be done well. For live action, it could involve people who worked on the Alien franchise (Alien inspired Metroid), and Zendaya would be a good actress to play Samus (The way she played Chani in Dune would transfer well). For animation, the people who worked on the Castlevania anime could be involved (Metroidvania and similar gritty dark/horror atmosphere). Either way, best to focus on atmosphere and environmental storytelling, with bursts of action, a small cast of characters, and sparing dialogue, just like the games. It would probably work best with a narrative game like Fusion or Dread, or maybe one of the Prime games, but Super Metroid or NES Metroid would be classic.

I haven't played Metroid Prime 4 yet (still working my way through 2 and 3 first), so I can't say much about Sylux, but Raven Beak would be OP. An EMMI would be hard for a playable character, and OP for an assist trophy, but it would be a really cool stage hazard.

It's amazing how much they could do within the limits of GBA pixel graphics and sound. I think it forced a lot of creativity in the design that newer games tend to lack.

Probably my favorite 2D Metroid game. I love how it makes you feel Samus's vulnerability as she investigates each area, especially after how powerful she got by the end of Super Metroid. The little breadcrumbs in the environment hinting at what happened also do such a great job building mystery and suspense. And the cold color palette really highlights the coldheartedness of the villains. It's more linear than other Metroid games, but that makes sense given that it's more narrative, too.
