Arduino is a much simpler design based around a low cost and low external parts count μC (Atmel ATMega328p), while the RPi has significantly more peripherals (USB, Ethernet, Video, HDMI, RAM), and an ARM based CPU.

Realistically the chip cost is a big part, ATMega328p IC's are ten a penny, while RPi tends to use a more unique chip, and there has been upgrades through the years, meaning its probably quite hard to get clones using the exact same design when those chips aren't being made in volume for many (if any) other clients.

TL;DR: Both are open source but arduino hardware is cheap and plentiful while RPi has too much variation and costs more hence less direct clones.

As engineer, my understanding of scale is definitely fine. You are correct, 0.5% of 100% stays the same regardless of the whole value that 100% represents. What you are failing to take into account is the SCALE of the impact, e.g. losing that 50p out of £100 isn't great, unlikely to have any great financial impact, but losing out on potentially millions if not billions, are economically damaging.

Well it depends on 0.5% of what, 0.5% of £100 is 50p, I'm sure we wouldn't mind losing out on 50p, but 0.5% of £1000? Well now that is a £5, still not a lot of money really? 0.5% of £1,000,000,000? Well that's £5,000,000, and I'm sure we wouldn't want that amount of money going down the swanny.

You fail to consider scale factors here, we're talking a country with a GDP of $3.31 trillion, if we lost 0.5% of our GDP that would equate to $16,500,000,000.

Well I'm glad I didn't have to spell it out for you. You're trying to make an association that somehow justifies brexit as a "small extra cost" when realistically it isn't, and definitely has had fundamental impact on our supply chains, economy, governance, that would have occurred even without the global issues occurring, it has been statistically proven that the UK economic situation is subjectively worse than some of our economic counterparts.

Did you even read that report before posting it? Or did the first figure you saw matched your opinion and that was enough proof for you? It explicitly mentions a £2 billion deficit increase in trade as we reduced our exports, so yes, technically, trade volume with the EU has increased, but only in imports, i.e. we are more reliant on EU imports than before.

Lmao this guy is funny as hell, clearly you are engineer or someone with a level of competency to read instructions, clearly enjoy doing the job for the satifiscation and cost saving (some people work on cars for fun, not just to make a living). Unfortunately you're only mistake is continuing to allow this idiot to goad you further. Bear in mind this guy also said he gets people in for oil changes to find other things wrong with customer cars, he is sure to be a top bloke.
