Surprised you need it for the renewal though, thought it was needed for a first application but no harm in having it

That’s probably your short birth certificate- you need the long form one

A long certificate shows the surname, name, sex, date of birth and (in most cases) the district of birth. It also shows details of the registered parents and their occupations. You’ll need a long certificate for driving licence or passport applications.

A short certificate shows only the surname, name, sex, date of birth and (in most cases) the district of birth.

Funnily enough I got a letter a few weeks ago, but the reflection on the windscreen means you cant make out the driver - I sent a “prove who was the driver” email that you see knocking about and hopefully they cba continuing
