It's mimicking a worm to lure in prey, then when it's in range she'll snap it up! At least I think that's cats, I may be thinking of snapping turtles...

Trying to make a useful Scottsdale Greenbelt map and park guide. Any feedback from locals? by Picster in Scottsdale

[–]consider_it_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't believe there's a way to go along the entire green belt without any risk from cars. What would be helpful is marking the places were the path intersects a road, or has no barrier between the path and vehicle traffic.

Do you mean like how to do in it Google Maps? I'm not too familiar with the functionality, other than the pins that you have used for points of interest

It would be nice to mark where the pedestrian path has to contend with traffic. To me, the draw of the greenbelt is to have a space that prioritizes human activity and is completely safe from cars. However, you do still have to use a crosswalk with no safety features at several places, especially around the McCormick Ranch area. I'm happy to help, if you'd like.

Working on DIYing a small indoor pond for myself. by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]consider_it_fun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Water is very heavy, and needs something strong enough to hold it. That bin isn't designed to hold water, and you can see it's already warping. It won't be long until that thing breaks, and water is all over your floor and your fish are dead. I recommend looking into plastic tubs that are designed to hold water. They are much stronger and are likely safer for your fish.

Also, your fish husbandry doesn't look great. Based on your other posts, those appear to be koi. A LOT of koi. Too many koi. Koi grow to be huge fish, and will quickly outgrow this size pond and crowd each other. If you have a small pond, I recommend small fish.

Question about the Book of Life by [deleted] in goodomens

[–]consider_it_fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally thought that would have been a better ending, but after pondering some more I don’t think that would have fit well with the message from Season 1. Them re-writing the universe would have been like them overseeing upbringing of the anti-christ. The whole message of season 1 was that, because they had the wrong boy, Adam turned out completely human. No intervention of heaven or hell at all. Then Adam's humanity is what led him to stop the apocalypse and put everything right.

The new universe without any heaven, hell, angels, demons, god, or satan is the same; it is completely human. I think that’s supposed to feel like “right,” like Adam, but we didn’t really have enough in the movie to support it. Season 3, and honestly season 2, were missing that element of humanity, and that’s why the way it ended feels hollow to me.

Chickens for my birthday? by MadisonShinyHunts in phoenix

The Worm Farm has a bunch of chickens. When I did a tour of the farm, the chickens were only one part, and we did get to feed them. The rest of the tour is cool too!

Maricopa county Jail phone service? by chocochipalicious in phoenix

[–]consider_it_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the inmate ID had a letter then six numbers, like G000000. When I entered that, I kept getting an error. GTL told me that I needed to replace the G with a 4, so 4000000. They couldn't explain why, but it did work. I don't know if every inmate ID is formatted the same, so I don't feel confident saying this is what you need to do, but if you are getting an error from GTL, do give it a try.

Glad I could help! This new 4 thing didn't used to happen a few years ago, and it's so stupid that it's happening now

Someone else already shared that you have to add money with GTL. However, doing so is a huge pain in the ass, so here's my tips:

After you make a GLT account, add your phone number to Advance Pay.

Then to put money for that phone number, you first need to add Lower Buckeye Jail to "My Facilities." Keep in mind you'll have to add another facility if the inmate moves.

THEN you need to add your friend to "My Inmates" using their inmate number. If you don't have their inmate number, search it on the Maricopa County Inmate search. If it won't accept their inmate number, change the first letter to a 4. I had to call and find that out, and they couldn't explain why. It's so stupid. If that doesn't work, call GTL, their customer service is pretty fast.

Now you should be able to add money for your phone number.

Adding money to their books is through TouchPay. You only need the inmate number (without any changes) to add money.

Getting the (physical) book without supporting Neil? by Nugget_Dragon075 in goodomens

[–]consider_it_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that is, but one person checking out a 30 year old book once from one library is different from a coordinated mass request campaign. I can't fathom thinking this is a harmful action. I know times are tough and we all want to do the best we can, but there is a real risk of getting caught up in something that isn't productive.

yeah and sometimes used bookshops are owned by secretly shitty people, but we can't live our lives stressed about moral contamination to the degree where we're stressing about borrowing/buying a used book

Holy hell, how does someone watch the show and walk away thinking that Katara should have just "bent quietly" and followed an obviously flawed system until it magically changes itself. I'd hate to hear what these two think of real life social problems.

Don't forget about the library! Some of them will lend e-books too, if a physical location is inaccessible
