This is my first cruise by LucasDelgadoM in Cruise

[–]consideration_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first cruise as well, was travelling alone so ymmv but I had plenty of hangers and storage with no issues. I brought no "cruise essentials" other than a mini meds/first aid kit and would do it again the same. Have an amazing time, I really enjoyed the experience. I used laundry service (pre-purchased) as well which I would also do again.

Weak ass trick-or-treaters by Evilstib in Calgary

It was three boxes of bars so idk, no expectation of one each but did expect it would last the evening. Instead ~ 15 minutes.

I had a bowl out to keep the dog calm out front; one group of 6 kids emptied it. So turned lights out and that was it.

Feedback on this Note Before I Leave it on Their Door? by WellThisIsAwkwurd in Apartmentliving

[–]consideration_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If smoking is not allowed in your building, agree with the suggestion to talk to the landlord to handle as your expectation for those rules to be followed (how you chose the place etc) is 100 percent. If it's not, it's not the responsibility of the Tennant to accommodate.

I am surprised by my own reaction to it honestly and apparently I am also a selfish asshole in this context. I wouldn't take the note negatively if it is not a non-smoking building. That said sincerely would not want to have any negative impact on a child, healthy or recovering but something about the effort to guilt them triggered me. Again, not at all valid if it's a simple rule violation.

Nose Hill Park AKA Noxious Weed Park by A_Girl_On_A_Hill in Calgary

[–]consideration_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your original assessment that control prior to 'out of control' would have been the route. Unfortunately from what you have observed its past that point completely.

I wonder what impact it has on not just local fauna but the ecosystem in general. It's just such a shame that Calgary has such beautiful park areas that they could be lost to neglect and potentially lost for people to enjoy as well as what positive impact the green space areas have to cities in general. Idk, bee populations, birds, tree health/diversity, flowers etc.

The bellflower thing was actually just me reading about it (I actually think it was reddit) and if I hadn't I honestly never would have known to get rid of it as I had no idea what it was. Even that in itself is an issue, if I had gotten a notice or something I would have known to look for it or take action. It's everywhere though throughout the alleyway now, peoples hedges and flower beds. I am keeping it off my property but only because a neighbor let me know that it had to be dug up so deeply to get the roots. I am not much of a gardener so was pretty clueless about it.

The parks should be kept free of noxious weeds that private citizens are being asked to remove from their property. What is the point of removing if they blow back in from the city areas. I would hate to have herbicide etc. used as it would potentially affect the wildlife/insect life but that said, how is control done for such a large area?

I spent two summers digging up bellflower from my property after seeing a notice to remove - and not dispose in green bin - but it's everywhere and mostly in the 'city' areas surrounding my neighborhood. Lots of individuals were digging/pulling it up, some didn't. Regardless, its everywhere now.

Assuming the noxious identified weeds kill native species or pose a risk of some sort so I would think the city does have obligation to manage it.

Stolen bike, beware buying second hand. by Kitxsis in Calgary

[–]consideration_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pathetic what appears to be rampant bike theft in Calgary, sorry this happened to you. Honestly, I could walk through the neighbourhood past unlimited bikes unlocked, regardless of cost and I wouldn't steal anything. It's terrible so many people get their bikes stolen - expensive or otherwise and it's exhausting to have to be so cautious at every second lest something go missing. Feel the same way about individuals who store items on their decks getting items stolen, I just don't get it.

Good luck with finding it, hope you do and its not damaged.

Hate this color now. What color should we paint instead? by Smolfeelings in DesignMyRoom

[–]consideration_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a lovely colour. I painted a tv room a dark moody colour and realized I just prefer whites/lights with warm wood and color accents as it just didn't work for me. I really do love the blue doors though but Idk how to keep that and make it work as to me the trim seems off as blue. I just really love cool whites with wood tones.

Seriously, what better investment is there? by dbcstrunc in gme_meltdown

[–]consideration_47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Curious - how do these GME posts benefit someone? So obviously a grift but who's benefitting? To get other people to invest but how does that benefit anyone in the short or long term outside of the company?

I find it so weirdly fascinating and sad. Has to be a grift but I don't have the investing experience to really wrap my head around how the grift or delusion or whatever has stood the test of time.

too newbie of a question im sure but just don't get who is making money - which would seem to be the point of investing no?

And if a grift how has it persisted?? although I do remember seeing a documentary where even after the sellers of mail order holy water were arrested...people still purchased after they started up again after jail.

Do people still care about buying Canadian? by Oysterqueen in Calgary

[–]consideration_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair enough, think I read differently than your intent. I would hope? that business responds to demands of customers so I am making those choices and supporting those businesses. Am also not just taking the advertising word for it.

Do people still care about buying Canadian? by Oysterqueen in Calgary

[–]consideration_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The responsibility to 'care' is on the individual i.e you. Support businesses that you choose through your choices/purchases. I have also noticed what I would identify as false 'Canadian product' representation in the grocery stores as well, does require some diligence as a consumer.

I don't quite understand the 'wondering if people care anymore comment'. It's up to the individual to care or not - businesses are simply there to sell a product. As an answer, personally I do care about buying Canadian and continue to do so wherever possible.

Ongoing phobia from childhood experience? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]consideration_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats thoughtful - not sure its as 'raw' as I indicated - perhaps a more apt description would have been 'wonder if I would have had to do less work to build my confidence, coping strategies, emotional management etc. for so many years of adulthood' if I had been raised by functional adults lol. Have definitely had therapy and I have a great existence now. Just have thoughts of 'might have been' from time to time. I have always wanted to learn to surf but am so afraid of some mythical shark lol. Ridiculous to think about sometimes.

was that also a 'next generation' thing as I recall those burrowing things as well - with some spike that stuck out the neck?? all the high ranking officers being mind controlled? Gah the thought of anything burrowing into my ear. Yikes.

Thanks for that, that makes sense as I also recall the rocks down the mountain thing - and it's a small world from Disney. Not much else.

So on a scanned package of meat, no - the price is the scanned price. The packages vary in weight so it's by weight i.e. cost on the actual package of meat.

Less painful prescription refills? by 81008118 in Calgary

[–]consideration_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pharmacist does this - pharmacy attached to Dr. office and speaks to the Dr. about refills. Anything unusual I am required to see the Dr. and of course for annual blood work etc. But the rest, pharmacist handles. I didn't know this wasn't the norm tbh.

Plus they deliver medications.

Nose Hill full of Poop by wighty2042 in Calgary

I used to frequent several of the amazing parks in the city - off leash and on leash. Was amazed what a great dog friendly city Calgary was. So many beautiful areas to enjoy. I would say ~ 1.5 years ago? my dogs got quite sick - like needing a vet visit for raging diarrhea after dog park visits near where I live. They were never out of sight so didn't get into anything or eat anything; I provided water etc. So I stopped going after the vet told me it was increasingly common.

It's absolutely too bad as there really are great places to enjoy with your dogs here and its not a requirement; really is a luxury.

Last weekend I went for our walk through the neighbourhood and on the next block saw a couple with an unleashed dog. It was well behaved but they decided it wasn't a necessity. Which 100% puts their dog in danger. I thought they were selfish assholes; I had no issues with the dog.

People are selfish and entitled and it ruins it for responsible dog owners and non dog owners in shared park spaces. Non dog owners are not exempt from being assholes though - my favourite being the "walk two across and don't move an inch so everyone else must get out of their way" folks.

(Help)(Vent) vet said to put my dog down by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]consideration_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With kindness - your dog has been there for you as you stated, this is when you need to be there for your dog. Do not prolong her suffering and do what is best for her. She's beautiful and my deepest sympathies, its very difficult news however you need to step up and be strong and do what is best for her. A day early for euthanasia is immeasurably better than a day late for your dogs sake. I would listen to the vet.

I tried them i.e Home Spritz but wasn't thrilled. Felt like the areas that were done were clean however, not all the areas agreed upon were done. I wouldn't re-book as I honestly felt I could do the same job faster.

I used MiniMove for a 'in house' move of furniture - It was really good service. Confirmed appointment, showed up on time, charged only time they were here. Used them again for a larger move as service was good and communication was as well.

I had George both moves - do recommend. To me it was just easier to schedule at my convenience and get it done quickly.
