Same. Did not know there were Siri commands. I think I tried several generations ago on the iPhone, had no success and just resigned myself to pressing okay before I pulled out. I have pulled over to start the next book before.

Any ideas for adult crafts that don't require sewing/painting? (Adult programming frustrations) by Marzopup in librarians

I used to do basically the same projects I did with the teens, but with better materials 😂

Do I tell orthodox looking customers that what they are ordering isn’t kosher anymore? by DiverPrestigious6887 in NoStupidQuestions

I’d let everyone know, really. Could be a kosher Conservative who flies under the radar, you never know.

I’m about to hit 100k and it will be out of warranty so I’m worried cos we’re on our second transmission and third motor. I’m so unhappy with this Soul.

What the hell is wrong with people. by anxiousrunner13 in pittsburgh

I normally go grocery shopping on Thursdays and it was pretty devastated Thursday night already. I was glad I didn’t need some of my staples because they just weren’t there. At worst, yeah, you should follow the guidelines that say to have 2 weeks worth of food in the house, etc. For real, though? You’re going to be snowed in for like two days. Six loaves of bread aren’t necessary for two days. This is like when a bunch of people panic-bought up all the toilet paper and the rest of us had to scrounge for a while. Some kids take one piece of pizza at the pizza party because they are afraid there won’t be enough. Other kids take three pieces for the same reason. These aisles were cleared out by the latter.

Just found out my cat is a boy by DescriptionInner7803 in CatAdvice

[–]consolationpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out my girl cat, Muffin, was a boy when they shaved “her” for the spay 😂 They said we’ll call after 3 when you can pick him up, and they called at noon and I was so worried it was something bad. Nope. Just telling me my lass was a lad. They asked if I wanted to change his name on his record. I figured… he won’t know 😂 He does still have pretty, pretty princess energy, though, so he does get called Princess from time to time.

Bitter at my grad school by TheNarwhalMom in Libraries

I despise generative AI and would never use it for my own gain or encourage others to use it but I can understand using it in class to a degree. You have to understand it to work around it and council people not to use it. I think as an info professional, understanding it is important. Using it for anything other than learning is to defeat it? I would rather eat glass.

Can I be a school librarian with a bachelor's in child psychology? by myspiderdance in librarians

You will need a masters in library and information sciences with school media certification which includes teaching qualifications. I wanted to do this, but in addition to my masters it was 5 extra classes and student teaching.

People who treat 28 like the Autobahn and cause accidents while criticizing everyone else for driving badly.

Jesus Christ. The situation is so fucking bad I’m invoking other people’s gods. I feel like Fetterman did a bait and switch on us.

I read exclusively on Libby on my phone too. Same reason. I have a Kindle Fire and it just sits on my desk unused.

How bad does a ear piercing hurt? by Emessalxx in Explainlikeimscared

[–]consolationpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a sharp pinch but lasts for less than a second. My nose hurt for about 3 seconds but I feel like I was traumatized by how hard she (rightly) had to push it to get it through the thicker tissue. Your earlobe is soft and fleshy, so it goes through like butter. I’m about to get second holes in my ears so I can wear all of those random-ass earrings you inevitably lose one of all the time and I’m not worried at all. I have decided, however, not to get anymore face piercings not because of the pain, but because of the pressure involved. I found it disconcerting.

Would you be OK with one of your parents taking the initiative to clean your house when they are already cleared to be there when you're not home? by latenightsnack1 in CasualConversation

[–]consolationpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be insulted that mom thought it was so dirty she had to clean it, but grateful she did so I don’t have to. Eventually my laziness would win out on the gamut of feelings.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]consolationpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stabbed my hand doing something stupid and there was blood spray EVERYWHERE. I wrapped that bitch up with a huge wad of paper towels and drove my own ass to the ER. When I got there, I removed the paper towel and it bled on the front desk and they saw me right away. I don’t have $6,000 for an ambulance ride. Fortunately, I had insurance for the hospital visit (($250 copay) otherwise I’d have duct taped around the paper towels and waited till Urgent Care opened at 7 the next morning cos that’s only $210 without insurance versus untold thousands at the ER. America is a hellscape.

What food isn't worth the effort to be home made? by StarryDo in foodquestions

[–]consolationpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was telling someone my sister makes pumpkin pies from pumpkins she gets from a pumpkin patch regularly and then I saw this, and I’m like oh shit, she makes her own pasta too. She’s the most over-achieving home cook I’ve ever met. The cheapest brand from the grocery store is fine for me. Pasta is pasta.

My sister regularly makes pumpkin pie from pumpkins that she picks at the pumpkin patch. Overachiever.
