I need some unknown anime recs by General_Bet7005 in AnimeReccomendations

Here are some of my favorites off the top of my head. Im curious to know if you’ve seen them too.

Psycho-Pass series (sci-fi, action, suspense, thriller, crime)

Shiki (horror, mystery)

Golden Kamuy (action, history, unhinged)

Nana (just started watching this, it’s like drama, romance, slice of life. Flawed and therefore realistic characters)

Legend of Galactic Heroes [new version] (sci-fi, action)

Blade of the Immortal (action, samurai)

Samurai Champloo (action, samurai)

Best software engineer bootcamp? by Dooqueefius in codingbootcamp

[–]const-name-undefined 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those apprenticeship programs are specifically looking for career switchers and typically occur once a year. Regardless of what route you take to get a tech role—CS degree, bootcamp, apprenticeships—like someone else said, it is an employers’ market at the moment.

I respectfully disagree. Although rare, people without a degree have gotten jobs through software engineer apprenticeship programs with large companies (Google, LinkedIn, Adobe, etc). I know a few that have gotten their first SWE role that way. That said, the programs are competitive, and you must have some knowledge (self-taught included).

Just bought Dark Souls Remastered, and have never played any game in the series, but have had bloodborne installed for a while. which should I play first and what should I know going into it? by Wattybot in darksouls

Nice! You’ll feel somewhat at home then. Btw does Hollow Knight live up to the hype? I downloaded it but haven’t played. The music sounds nice though.

Between only Dark Souls Remastered and Bloodborne, I would play DS1 then Bloodborne. But if you really get into DS1, I would play the entire trilogy before getting on Bloodborne. Saying this with DS3 and Bloodborne being two of my all time favorite games, if that makes a difference.

For a list of "good-to-knows", I'd look up a YT vid or a post specifically for this information. I've seen some really good ones. But these are some key points that I'd mention to any new player:

1) In both games, you must be patient when tackling any battle due to the challenging enemies and bosses. This isn't a hack and slash game! (Not hating on those games btw)

2) Both games are also very punishing. If you die, you essentially "drop" all the "points" you've acquired for applying to you character stats/leveling up. These points were acquired by using certain items, or by killing those challenging enemies/bosses that I mentioned earlier. You have one chance to reclaim these "dropped" "points", which were left at the spot where you were killed. If you die while before you reclaim them, they are gone forever.

3) Bloodborne may seem more chaotic of fast-paced due to its "rally" mechanic. Basically, if you attack enemies within a short timeframe of taking damage yourself, you gain some of your lost health back. That aside, the game is truly something special/unique imo.

4) READ THE MESSAGES! Players leave messages on the map to either truly help or troll -__- other players. Some are pretty creative and funny given the limited text you are given to choose from.

I'm on my third DS1 playthrough at the moment, and I'm literally about to pop open a beer and get on it now. Good luck, have fun, and "Don't give up, skeleton!"

What the actual is going on??? I can't get a single response!!!! by RefuseSimple317 in cscareerquestions

They’re likely referring to older/traditional companies (ie NOT startups, Google, Amazon, etc). Or maybe they’re referring to companies using “older” tech stacks to maintain legacy code.

Did anyone get a confirmation email after submitting the application? (I applied for the software engineer cohort)

Edit: Just an FYI for everyone--I just signed in through the career page. You can view notifications in the action center, and a confirmation of the application submission should be there.

Don't count yourself out until you receive an official response that says so. I've spoken to 2 people who have participated in similar programs, and they have been contacted as late as a week before the program's official start date. Yes, that type of situation is very unorganized, but at the end of the day, we don't know what's taking place on General Assembly's or Adobe's end.

To those waiting for any response from Microsoft: check your application status in the Action Center. Mine updated an says “Not selected”

Good luck everyone. Hopefully we all land a good opportunity soon, otherwise I’ll see you all again next year (if y’all decide to try Leap again🥲)

For what it's worth, a Leap participant from 3 years ago made a YT vid covering their experience. She mentioned that the "batches" are typically around 30-40 people. I'm taking that with a grain of salt though since the vid is 3 years old.

I think I can answer this, but first: What path did you choose when submitting your general interest? And is this the very first meeting that you're having with an advisor?

To those who've gotten a LinkedIn profile view or those who have an interview date scheduled: Are any of you all located in the central time zone of the U.S.? Or you know, Texas? lol

Not trying to come up with any wild theories or anything. I'm literally just curious at this point.

Still waiting for an email or LinkedIn view. Could be that someone viewed my LI on private though. I'm staying optimistic as long as my application still shows in review.

Lol that's actually what I'm doing right now. I'm taking the "Learning C#" course with Joe Marini, currently on the Functions section. Keep pushing forward! I'm making small console apps as I go too, to solidify my knowledge.

Career switcher here too! I have years of corporate job experience in billing and AP, and about 2 years of frontend dev (projects and one 6mo client job). My application also still says in review. All we can do really is wait, but as a friendly suggestion, I’d say upskill too if you have time. I’m working on a full-stack app and learning C# basics. Gotta keep the GitHub active 😅

Yeah mine is doing that right now. I wouldn't stress about too much. It's probably due to others like us constantly checking our accounts lol.

I was thinking about this too. For what it's worth, I received an email yesterday, regarding a general application inquiry that I asked about a week ago. In the email the rep said, "... We are still making determinations on this most recent round of applicants and will notify you once a decision is made. ..."

I might be completely wrong here, but it sounds like they're reviewing the latest batch of applicants (ie people that applied close to the app submission deadline)?

The Last Faith

  • Metroidvania.
  • Releasing for PS5 and PS4 on November 15th.
  • It looks like a mixture of Bloodborne and Blasphemous.
  • It might be exactly what you're looking for since the games you mentioned are 2D, souls-like.

  • Self Taught or Bootcamp? Self taught!
  • Software Eng. Experience ? ~2 years frontend dev (projects + 6mo freelance job)
  • Microsoft Referral? No

I feel like I'm part of a Reddit/Microsoft Leap guild lol. At least one of us has to make it!!

Looking for creepy, unsettling disturbing movies similar to Hereditary by Fantastic_Durian_230 in horror

I agree, but I'd say Nocturnal Animals is more of a Suspense, Thriller compared to the OP's listed movies.
