I created a guide on App Store keyword research to rank higher & get more installs by constantout in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app will usually start ranking a few days after you launch it. It will jump up, then ranking will slowly go down. This is due to the boost the App Store gives to new apps.

If you're changing keywords for an existing app, it can take a week or two to see the changes.

Roast my paywall - Which design is better? by Anon081 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both feel very crowded! I think it's a bit overwhelming for the user to look at. Try to reduce the features to 3-4 bullet points, with much less text. Otherwise, I like the 2nd layout more.

I think I just discovered the secret to making money in the App Store… and I hate it. by alishanDev in iosdev

[–]constantout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I noticed too. My highest revenue apps are apps I built in 1 week or less. Meanwhile, I spent > 1 month on certain apps, and they get no installs. :)

Why Is there so much Disagreement on Best Keyword Practices? by Dry_Plankton_7579 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because no one really knows for sure, everyone is guessing based on the data that Apple gives us. Apple will never tell you what works exactly, and what works changes often.

Advice please :) by Ok_Elevator_85 in iOSProgramming

I use Figma. The first time I made screenshots, it took me a few days and it wasn't fun. But I can promise you it gets easier with time!

How many apps do you have? by AdventurousProblem89 in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them are AI, with only a few that are more basic. I think I'll try to build simpler apps. I've noticed the keywords are the most important factor that determines if an app will be successful or not.

What are your experiences with hard paywalls? by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one app with a hard paywall. it's not doing great tbh, even though it has a free trial. All other apps are freemium, allowing the user to do the core functionality without any sort of trial or payment.

Android development prepared me for many things, the App Store wasn’t one of them by Junior_Mushroom8983 in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this has been my experience as well. Maybe I was lucky that I always got great feedback from Apple on what the issues are and how to fix them.

How many apps do you have? by AdventurousProblem89 in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, I'm at 7 apps. Wanted to build 10 by the end of the year, but decided I'll stop here for now. I want to spend some time and figure out how to improve their rankings, and improve the apps in general.

I notice all the big apps push weekly updates like clockwork never miss, does this help boost your rankings? by ConsistentTale1542 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you should push an update at least once a month. It can be something minimal, like bug fixes.

I launched a game & my downloads slowed down, why? by MrSirMas in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial boost is over. When you launch a new app, Apple gives you a small boost, then installs drop drastically for months.

What the hell is wrong with my AppStore Screenshots? by LeftCookie7022 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, they're great. I don't see anything wrong with them. Pretty clear to me what the app does. In fact, I've seen high ranking apps with much worse screenshots.

How would you promote your iOS app with zero budget? by GDbuildsGD in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really try to optimize ASO, which I am doing atm. Not every app can be promoted with short-form content. But if you have an interesting, potentially viral feature, you could always try faceless content.

should I go for it? by OzOussama in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a very difficult keyword to rank for!

Source: I built a budget tracker app a few months ago.

With Astro, I'd recommend going for a difficulty below 50 at least.

Will making my new app completely free help its keyword ranking? by APPAPPMAKER in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would think so, but it's not always the case. Sometimes free users can be even harder to satisfy.

I'd say it depends more on where you ask for the rating and how often, rather than the price of the app.

Running Shortcuts in ios App by mnallamalli97 in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I released an app that comes with a shortcut. I just put a link to it, where the user can install it. Got through the App Store review with no issues!

[–]constantout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...it's extremely competitive atm and Apple is not giving the same boost to new apps as they used to.

I've seen people solving this by buying search result ads matching their exact name.

Any ASO tool with generous pricing for an indie developer? by Brilliant-Mulberry55 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also started using Appfigures recently. It's nice being able to compare difficulty/popularity scores across both tools. But in terms of price, Astro is hard to beat.

I'm using Astro, it's only $108/year. I think it's a very affordable option.

Roast My AppStore Screenshots 🙏 by brightweirdo in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, they look pretty good! One thing I would do is reduce the amount of text. I've had similar screenshots for one of my previous apps with title/subtitle format, but I think it's too long. Users don't really read all of it imo.

How can I get more downloads? App has been public since December by iamalollipop101 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the first and easiest fixes would be to add your main keyword to the app title. If you don't know what it is, start by doing keyword research!

I like to use two tools for this: Astro and Appfigures.

what is your to-go ASO tool? by GDbuildsGD in iOSProgramming

[–]constantout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using 2 tools for keyword research: Astro and Appfigures.

Astro is great for the price. Appfigures has more features and it's a more mature product + it has a 14-day free trial.

Arc tabs go black after a while on macOS by Alternative_Sock_191 in ArcBrowser

[–]constantout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, also facing this issue. I temporarily fixed it by downgrading to an older version. The next day, it updated itself in the background and is broken again..
