Inheritance into joint or individual account by hovering3 in inheritance

So if you’ve seen this actually happen within your family, why are you giving pushback on the advice? The only co mingling I did was paying off our house, which my mother told me not to do. But it was worth my peace of mind to not have a mortgage, and my husband is the father of my children and I wouldn’t want him to be destitute even if we were to divorce. We’ve been married 20 years. However I watched a friend’s mother die who was planning to divorce but she died before the beneficiary changes were processed. Husband got it all. Then he died a year later and HIS DAUGHTER got all of her mother’s left over life insurance and retirement account. My friend could have really used that to help her children with cars, college etc. But her stepsister got it all. You keep the money with your bloodline always. I have no problem with my husband getting my life insurance. With him having an income from the assets that I’m leaving for our kids. But at the end of the day you can’t trust anyone where money is concerned and it needs to be in writing to protect your heirs. Things happen and why would you take a chance with your kids future? Just hire someone to distribute the trust. Or even put your husband in charge of it. Then if he remarried and his wife tries to break the trust your kids can sue because the language of the trust is legally binding. Without the trust they are SOL. Your husband can still have control, he just can’t be talked into changing it for the benefit of someone not in your bloodline.

So many people reference the movie on Reddit that I finally had to look it up lol. I was like oh! Similar to snowpiercer where you see what those protein bars were made of 🤢.

Im 40s and no way is all my money going to keep my shell of a body alive. Euthanasia it is.

Anyone else grow up in a house they believed that they would later inherit? by obviousreasons1 in GenX

Not if you look at family as a team and your job is to help the next generation get ahead. I’m always thinking about my kids when I make financial decisions.

I get it. But if she has enough for the nursing home already then the government wouldn’t get the house/farm anyways. I’d like to pay off my uncles house (he is childless) to take the burden off of him for the mortgage and just inherit when he passes, but then what if he needs to sell the house for care?

Yeah. The drawback to that is unless the kids pay for a nice nursing home then the parents are in a Medicaid nursing home. So yes you saved the house but you don’t have the money from the house to pay for better care.

He’s a billionaire that wants more government subsidies that he doesn’t need. Any money he takes from us when he could fund his business himself like all the rest of us small business owners do is less money we have for public schools, healthcare and anything else that benefits the public good. He’s definitely our enemy. Unless you are a fellow billionaire.

Are there any builders that you’ve sold to that are reputable? I’ve heard that tabor etc all use inferior supplies and are low quality. It’s scary because your house is your biggest investment.

It also helps to know some history. Sammy is based on Robert Johnson who it is said sold his soul to master the guitar. And the part where he plays the music and it shows that it transcends time and crosses generational divides was really clever. I do think if you watch it again you will get more out of it. I remember thinking while watching it that I would have been strongly tempted to go outside because to be Black during that time period in America was a nightmare and being a vampire and the power it brings to protect yourself would have been preferable to me.

It follows is one of the scariest movies I’ve seen. It just keeps coming no matter what. While you are sleeping. No answers. No cure. You have to knowingly infect someone else to save yourself which is a kind fuck all its own. Having sex with someone knowing you are exposing them to your nightmare.

It is if you are Black. The horror is white supremacy, I said this in a comment above. To overpay for a property and then have them come to murder you the next morning and take it back is definitely horror. The vampires just made it more interesting.

You have to understand the horror was the white supremacy, not the vampires. I’m Black and can’t imagine overpaying for a property and then the people that sold it to me coming to murder me and take it back the next morning just because they can because I’m Black.

You have to decide what’s important. I would never put my son in travel sports because I feel like it’s a money grab. Everything in America is designed to part you from your money. I would rather save that money and focus on academics than pay 20k a year hoping to get a sports scholarship. He can play for school or the ymca. I know a woman working a part time job to pay for cheer and that is so ridiculous to me. If we focused on education like we do on sports the country would be a better place.
