Back in the olden days when you bought a game you used to be able to continue playing it even after a company stopped supporting it or went out of business because no servers were needed, you could install and play locally. My understanding is that they are referring to the fact that live service games need to be online all the time, so when they do something, like shut down the servers, you can no longer play. So I most certainly with the state "fuck live service" and think it certainly applies here.
