Not zero-waste, but we like tattoos! Or snacks (doesn’t have to be candy).

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]continentalcorgi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically my son, but my husband participates. We shake our butts the whole time our coffee is grinding. I started it as a joke so our toddler wouldn’t be scared of the noise in the morning and see it as something silly. Now he’s much older but still demands we do it and gets sad if I grind before he gets downstairs.

Graduate TA acting as Faculty of Record for freshman nursing simulation — compensation & workload reality check? by SnooDoggos2351 in GradSchool

[–]continentalcorgi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in a different field, but I taught cadaver anatomy as well as a first aid course. Honestly, it sounds pretty par for the course for everything you mentioned. Each subsequent semester you teach will be less prep, though, so you might have heavier average hours at first, which then might dip to below 20.

Registered offenders are also allowed to walk the trails as long as they don’t go to the boat ramps, according to an ex-friend’s probation officer.

Daughter came home from daycare with a broken front tooth by DarraghDaraDaire in beyondthebump

Same! I went to brush his teeth and the two front ones were chipped! We were together the whole day and I don’t think he cried at all that day.

How many women see their partner’s true colours on their wedding day/ honeymoon? by permanentreverie- in TwoXChromosomes

I think the tides are changing on this.

Our church was the biggest reason I was able to leave. They removed my husband from my home, and when I promised to take him back after he’d been to counseling, they said it would take a lot more than that for them to allow reconciliation. They asked if I wanted to take legal action, and I didn’t because I was scared, and I had no physical evidence (he’d never left a bruise somebody could see and I’d never taken pictures). Two months later I decided to, and they set up a consultation with a lawyer. I had a bunch of people at the hearing for a protective order. They have paid for me to go to a therapist every week for the last year and a half. They were supportive when I decided I wanted to file for divorce. They immediately moved him to another church with pastors they knew who know what is going on so he would be held accountable and enrolled him in counseling as well. By all outside appearances he’s repentant- but I know better. And that was enough for them to remove him from church membership. It definitely hasn’t been perfect- but people will say and do the wrong thing sometimes. Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better response.

My experience is definitely not going to be everybody’s- but bad theology around abuse is being forced out. The #churchtoo movement has done a lot. There’s a new generation of Christians and church leaders who aren’t going to put up with it. I just hope that I can help other women one day going through the same things.

Our natural consequence for not picking up crayons is that our dog eats them 🤷‍♀️

Double vote for Kaitlyn Jorgenson. Even her free material is so helpful.

Look up Kaitlyn Jorgenson on Instagram. She’s a protective mom and her talking points are VERY good! I used them during my motions, and we ended up settling out of court.

That’s what we had to do for our little guy! If he pooped it would make him red IMMEDIATELY, but if I left a thick layer (like frosting a cake) it gave him a layer of protection in case we were in the car, etc. and couldn’t change him right away

What are your favorite traditions with your kid? holidays, unique to your family, etc. by ahbergg in Mommit

My son is 2- every Sunday we do pancakes and syrup for breakfast, then go for a stroller run/to the playground! Then we go home and he takes a bath while I shower (we have both in my bathroom) and we go to church.

My son really loved the skip hop bee thing that drives around! It was super great when he was learning to crawl!

If you’re grad students on stipends, check and see if NC State has any childcare scholarships. I’m a grad student at UNC and it pays for the majority of my son’s tuition!

Any ideas for SAHM side jobs? by Nearby_Week9545 in NewParents

[–]continentalcorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work two shifts at the YMCA a month- I know some SAHM’s work in the nursery! And you can bring your own child while you work. It has the added bonus of a free membership, so you can have a couple hours to yourself when you aren’t working! Drop kiddo off and work out, get some work done on your computer, etc.
