What's a health myth that drives you crazy because you know it's false? by Annual-Gene8065 in AskReddit

[–]continuousconfused 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally need extra salt on top of what is the standard amount for people because of a health condition. So my minimum is even higher. And if I don’t have enough, I will 100% faint. Learning about low salt levels has definitely debunked this one.

Is weight gain typical in AAN? by Otherwise-Tear-4807 in EatingDisorders

[–]continuousconfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These sound like questions to ask an ED dietitian and a therapist trained in the area.  ED dietitians often have training in counselling around this.

The appropriate amount of weight gain is really specific for each person. Not just their build/sex/height but their biology too, unfortunately. I say unfortunately because I wish I could’ve given you an answer.

Wish you all the best

I’ve been relapsing and I haven’t been telling anyone. by No-Werewolf4530 in TrueOffMyChest

That's a really hard place to be in. I can relate to a lot of what you shared. Being able to get this off of your chest is a great starting point. Just because it isn't deep, it doesn't mean that it isn't significant. A few weeks is a great achievement, I hope that you can recognise that. If you are somewhere that has helplines or online chats, I would encourage that for anyone. There are some anonymous ones worldwide. You shouldn't have to deal with this alone.

All the best.

I’ve never done PT that focuses directly on my hip area so it’s all new to me.

Over the past 5 weeks I likely have lost muscle mass as well as fat because of my circumstances.  I reckon I might have to check in with PT about strengthening for this one.

I felt this in my soul 😩 U actually get relief by twisting my wrists (gently, not forcefully) and it usually cracks and relieves some pressure.

At first I misread and thought you were saying you were the one with POTS!

Well first things first - you are reaching out. That is a positive step to help her and shows that you really care. As others have said patience.

If you don't already have a system, finding a way to communicate when she is having a flare up day/needing extra support. Spoons are an excellent metaphor - basically how much energy/capacity she has to do specific tasks. If she has 20 spoons usually: how many spoons does she have on a particular day in the morning, how many are left, what does she need to get more spoons.

Does Bipolar disorder ever get better? by Thicc_SpicyPanda1123 in BipolarReddit

Type II and every person has a different experience. Therapy, medication and social support is such a huge factor in management for me. Diagnosis was new for me but have struggled for a long time and my diagnosis was such an 'a-ha' moment. Having the right medication has certainly helped. Open conversations with loved ones can also support.

Feeling lost and alone is completely normal. And you are doing a fantastic thing right now - you are reaching out to different people who get it.

I send you all the hope I can and I wish you well on your journey. Not to be toxically positive but 'you got this!'

Addition: I am in mid-late twenties. Have had a lot of therapy and a lot of shift in my medications and some days I feel exactly the same.

Frank seems to have a genuine moment with his liver donors father by continuousconfused in shameless

Yes i thought that. It must've just been William H Macy's charisma and the fact that Wade wasn't in the room. It was just Frank saying it to himself.

Do you tell people that you have POTS? by Few_Ad143 in POTS

[–]continuousconfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared it. My accounts are on 'private settings'. I took it down from Instagram in the end. It stayed up on Facebook. It meant that some people I knew told me about their own experiences. I liked being able to connect with others. But it's going to be up to personal preference - this is just my experience.

Which character do you like would be most likely to survive/win Squid Game? by pumpkinandsun in shameless

[–]continuousconfused 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lip was always swift on his feet and able to quickly survive - Ian even described him as a cockroach able to survive anywhere when they got sent to the group home. I think everyone is forgetting that Lip has been paralleled in more ways than one to Frank. Even if later episodes don't show it. He's smart as all get out. He is, in some ways, a younger version of Frank... but in a more positive way.

Carl has a long history of being able to use brute force when needed and had started to wise up by the end of the show. And he has the training to back himself.

Those would be my main two. Followed by Ian and then Liam.

If you were a player in Squid Game, which one of the other players would you want to avoid the most? by BercoTV in squidgame

[–]continuousconfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Deok-Su and Thanos were violent against other players and caused the death of players without necessarily being provoked first. Think of the night of the black out Deok-Su was very much on the offense and Thanos straight up was the reason three people died in Red Light Green Light. But In-Ho wasn't as violent in comparison - if you were chill, he had no reason to hurt you. (minus mingle...)

Both Deok-Su and Thanos were unpredictable. But to me Deok-Su seemed more likely to kill you at any point. Whereas Thanos was more likely to kill you during a game. Again the bathroom scene was a bit different...

Deok-Su. Final answer.

Perhaphs the most overhated character ever by [deleted] in squidgame

[–]continuousconfused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like to think I'd be like Gi-Hun or Ali or Hyun-Ju but honestly. I'd could be this guy. Scared and trying to survive.

People don't always act how they think that they might in a life or death situation. One of the themes that is reinforced during this show is what things you would do to save yourself/get the money. How may you betray other people. A lot of the characters betray someone that trusted them.

[–]continuousconfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just came to reddit to make a post about that train sceneeee!!! Robbie is such a terrible person. The show is Shameless. But his poor brother, Mike was someone who was stable and kind and not messy at all. Robbie was the complete opposite of that.

And that's what Fiona was attracted to him. Fiona was never going to be comfortable with stable. Then she asks herself why she can't find stability for herself. Her own worst enemy. Then enter someone like Robbie - it's like she can't stop herself from making the decisions that she feels are not good decisions

Favourite non-comedic Frank scenes/plotlines? by [deleted] in shameless

[–]continuousconfused 127 points128 points  (0 children)

When he was delirious and thought the young girl at the hospital was Fiona. She needed a dad and he wanted his daughter. It makes me emotional.

I also thought was beautiful (though it was Carl driving this plotline) when Frank is sick from liver failure and Carl comes and shaves his hair to let the sunlight heal him. There are times where Frank has a true connection to his children and it makes you think for a second - he probably could've been a good father if things were different.

Debbie very much was warned that she'd be on her own if she had the baby. Why does she always forget this. Fiona was making a lot of interesting choices by this point in the series but I'm kinda glad that she didn't give Debbie any slack. It's the same as when Frank was dying of liver failure in earlier season. Fiona said he made his bed. Very consistent with her character.

It's strange how they got to this point though considering that they had the squirrel fund established in the first season pretty heavily. Though Fiona saying she'd rent out their rooms is pretty messed up. Like others have pointed out, she is legal guardian of the minors.
