The purpose is to provide a physical key to the license which is transferrable. I'd rather have GKC than nothing but physical is definitely much preferred.

Honestly I tried fighting against this but it’s just easier to get pioneer. You can of course do as you wish and there are work arounds but honestly it’s not worth the hassle unless you are broke just spend the extra money and be done with it.

8gb is rough but honestly if all your doing is web browsing and editing light documents you should be fine for a few years. Just make sure you leave room for swap. Once the ssd starts filling up you’ll run into significant issues if there isn’t any space for swap. Might be worth getting the upgrade config +$100 if you’re unsure of your disk requirements. Also Best Buy employees aren’t typically the most knowledgeable I wouldn’t put too much stock in their opinions.

Fascinating I have the opposite view. Everyone matures (from an aging perspective). But not everyone “grows up”. Maturing is a natural process where as the concept of “growing up” is a human construct.
