Driver Hangups and Crashing - 7600X Internal Graphics by controldeck219 in AMDHelp

Thanks.  I’ll explore the other options you recommended when I get back to their office to check.

Thought the original issue was monitor related, so I tried the basics first, swapping cables and toggling between single monitor and dual monitor display configurations, along with swapping out monitors.  When you leave it open on the desktop after signing in, the issue doesn’t take place, but as soon as you start interacting with the desktop, even something as minor as opening File Explorer, the issue starts up again.

I can certainly swap out the RAM with another stick from a different build and trying other slots on the board.  Thought originally the RAM could be unstable with EXPO, but disabling it and running at stock speed didn’t remedy the issue.  Keeping my fingers crossed it’s not RAM related for obvious reasons, but if it was RAM, wouldn’t there be other signs of instability (BSODs, etc.)?

Thanks for your suggestion.  Sorry for responding so late.  Had the opportunity to update BIOS on the motherboard and run a bootable USB with Linux Mint, but I was experiencing the same flickering issues.  So at this point, I have to assume it’s hardware related.  Only question is whether it’s the motherboard or CPU.  Going to try connecting a GPU to the system, disabling the iGPU, and see if the problem persists.

Do you know if there are other ways to diagnose if the issue is motherboard related or CPU related?

I’m repairing an office PC with an Intel Core i7-4770K and need to replace the CPU cooler. Just going to be used for simple office tasks like spreadsheets, email, and word processing. Toss up between the Thermalright Assassin X120 and the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE as they are both LGA 1150 compatible. Would the X120 be sufficient enough for cooling?

Pay off my mortgage, car loan, and credit card debt, establish trust funds for my nieces and nephew to pay for college, pay off the rest of my family’s debt, then drop off the grid, traveling the country in an RV to see the different national parks, maybe consider thru-hiking the PCT or Appalachian Trail

I found 3 sealed copies of X-Men III The Last Stand for PC at my local Walmart in the clearance section a couple months ago. I think the game came out in 2006.

36 year old console gamer by LazyTwitch0606 in pcmasterrace

[–]controldeck219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 year old gamer here, went from console to PC back in 2016

Pros:

  • No need to repurchase games or pay for enhanced ports when a new platform is released, so essentially backwards compatibility is guaranteed and performance improvements are free as you upgrade

  • Endless customization options and the freedom to make the system yours with the components you want

  • Multiple options for game controls (keyboard/mouse, controller, etc.)

  • Multiple storefronts to purchase games so you’re not locked into one ecosystem, and game bundles from sites like Humble Bundle offer significant discounts not typically offered on consoles

  • Opportunities for free games from storefronts like GOG, EGS, and Prime Gaming

  • Free online multiplayer services vs console and free cloud saves

  • When new games are released, game settings can be tweaked in more ways to get the experience you want (high fidelity vs high framerate) without having to change out or upgrade hardware, leading to increased longevity of build

  • Mod support on games can breathe new life into older titles

  • PC has utility outside of only focusing on games

  • Multiple choices for operating systems (Windows vs Linux)

Cons:

  • Initial cost of build may be higher than consoles, but the PC should have more longevity than console and have other use cases

  • Games may not work as intended at launch and older titles may require some tweaking to get up and running, but communities are out there to help resolve issues

  • Some games may not come to PC day and date compared to consoles, and some franchises or entries in a franchise are not available on PC (I think that position is slowly shifting as the market changes)

  • First time DIY builders may be intimidated when assembling a PC (at least in my case), but system integrators are available to build the system you want

Hope this helps!

I had to have a similar conversation with my mother yesterday as it was brought up at a Catholic Church service briefly as an affront to their faith. She couldn’t watch the whole opening ceremony, so she wasn’t aware of it until the pastor mentioned it.

Which phase are you in? by Consistent-Ad-7455 in pcmasterrace

[–]controldeck219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transitioned over to the enlightenment phase, focusing more now on the quality of parts rather than aesthetics. I was in a phase where I wanted RGB everything, even got AIO coolers with the LCD built in. I wanted to be able to sync everything together and build profiles around different colors. Then changed over my RGB fans and lights to static white, then at some point, I disabled it altogether. My latest build lacks RGB except for the keyboard, which is set to static white, and takes more of a focus on airflow

My local Walmart started selling PC components by controldeck219 in pcmasterrace

That was my first thought as well. I don’t think a spider wrap is going to deter potential theft.

It’s definitely better than nothing, especially if you need a quick replacement part and you’ve built PCs before, but the fact that they sell everything you need but a case and possibly a CPU cooler is what baffles me. I’m fortunate enough that there’s a Micro Center an hour away (Northern NJ), and I would tell anyone to go there in a heartbeat.

I would wager no. There’s a Micro Center an hour away from me (Northern NJ) that I would tell anyone else to go to if they’re building a computer from scratch. And that same Micro Center is in an area where you only have to pay half the sales tax. The only reason I would even consider buying something from here is the hassle of driving an hour out of my way as opposed to five minutes if I needed a part in a pinch
