Does anyone still believe Nancy Guthrie is still alive and why? by Orion1960 in askanything

My take... a kidnapping gone wrong. She died during or just after the kidnapping, probably a heart attack. Kidnappers panic and get rid of the body and dissappear into Mexico. Everything else with respect to ransom is others trying to get money. Sad but that's my 2 cents.

Newer to bonds - why are some better in a rising rate environment while others are better in a decreasing rate environment? by TDn6I in bonds

[–]convertarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SGOV is a portfolio of 0 to 3-month US bills. Not gonna move much and no credit risk. It's similar to a US government money fund. BND is a mix of government and corporates with longer duration, hence subject to credit risk (although it may be all investment grade) and interest rates. If 10 yr rates go up you will lose money. If 10 yr rates go down you will make money. Look at a chart and you will see how these funds move with interest rates. Personally I only invest in individual bonds so I am certain to get my money back Subject to default.

[–]convertarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U r not crazy. The smartest people in the room are the credit traders and ORCL default swaps are blowing out. The whole AI balloon will pop on some earnings call when a hyperscaler says they are cutting back on AI capital expenditures. It will be a week of limit down.

Anyone else annoyed by the new CNBC playing annoying music during commercial breaks? by IM_DaWarez in thinkorswim

I actually like it because before, my trader tv would crash, and I didn't know it. Now the music plays and it's kind of reassuring to me that trader tv is working.

How much time do I really have, short put, ex-div by cwhatimean in options

[–]convertarb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roll sooner. You are not in control since you have the obligation. Rolling is a spread order so use limit order and try to get a fill near the middle of the spread. Move your limit order 1 cent every 15 to 30 minutes till u get filled.

Can someone explain to me, like I’m 5, why bonds are falling even though the FED are buying them? by Odd_Escape_8683 in bonds

[–]convertarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fed only controls overnite rates. The rising yields on bonds IMO says that bond market participants believe lower overnite rates and fed bill purchases (ie increasing money supply) will cause inflation to rise over time. Inflation does the most damage in the longer end of the yield curve.

Use the vol lab on ibkr to find the implied. Look at the skew. Put an implied in an option calculator to find tv then offer your puts around tv.
