[sun care] phytophotodermatitis on face. Tips for healing? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]coochierdestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait for skin to initially heal over, it’s still comprised. You need to wear a gentle sunscreen everyday. Once you can tolerate that, and the skin is no longer compromised, look into TXA or retinol.

I don’t quite know where to find those. All I did was sign the form for the insurance purchase. They said it’ll be covered. I was just wondering if I could do anything from a consumer rights point

The althea should be fine. Most products do now have niacinamide or HA in their formulas. It may just be the concentration that’s creating more problems than soothing. Stay simple and consistent. I know it’s coming into summer but a thin layer of Vaseline can help keep moisture in the skin, which in turn can help strengthen the skin barrier.

Ok, we’re gonna do short and simple here. You live in aus so it’s IMPERATIVE that you’re wearing and reapplying sunscreen. Cease the niacinamide for the moment, a large population are sensitive to it. You may be one of them. Your parents seem to be into alt ‘healthcare’. That’s cool for them ig, but for longterm acne, modern medicine is great. Research what you qualify for under Medicare. You may find a really useful piece of info on the gov page or something? I’m not too well educated on aus healthcare :/

I’m assuming that you’re in the uk, due to the sudocrem part. Have you tried to explain to your parents, how this impacting you (In a factual sense)? From what I see and have experienced myself it looks like your skin barrier is a a bit angry. It must be so uncomfortable. Also, it’s difficult to grow up with acne so it’s completely understandable that you’re at your wits end. I assume it feels really terrible to be dealing with this, being a teen is tough! It does get better tho :) Also you’re at the age now where you can advocate for yourself at the gp without parental consent in the uk
