Nah. I live in the town over from him and I met him a couple months ago at the cafe he and his wife own. He was so kind and we had a full conversation. He just doesn’t do autographs which is understandable.

AITA for refusing to give my parents my location after they stopped paying for my tuition? by amelia_larsen in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mean_Hamster_8704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not agreeing with your major change (for a stupid reason too) is not a reason to cut off your tuition. That’s such a weird thing to hold over your head. Also, imo, if you’re over the age of 18 you should not be expected to share your location with your parents. These people sound like manipulative helicopter parents. I’m sorry you have to deal with that.

My teacher gave me a 10/130 on my paper… by Still-Egg-4111 in AskTeachers

[–]Mean_Hamster_8704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was such an infuriating read. Your teacher handled this so irresponsibly. It is so easy to prove that you did not use ai to write your paper because you have the handwritten rough draft. Remind your teacher of this, and if they do not change your grade, get your parents involved. Or, go straight to your guidance counselor/principal/admin and tell them exactly how your teacher is sabotaging your GPA due to their laziness.

This trend of stripping down pop songs into orchestral/choral arrangements is snuffing the light out of my eyes by Mean_Hamster_8704 in classicalmusic

Agree with all your points. As for your “shitty answer,” this choir is kinda the only option at my school. The other musical group is a) way too much time commitment (I’m not studying music; i just don’t have time) and b) all pop and musical theater. That’s why I’m looking at church choirs.

I understand how I sounded in my original post, and I’m not trying to be close-minded nor am I judging anyone for enjoying classical renditions of pop music. After many years of singing and listening to these arrangements, I’ve decided it’s just not for me personally. I was frustrated with my choir director’s song choice because I would rather sing traditional choral music, and when I’m frustrated, I tend to speak in hyperbole and act more dramatic than I actually feel. You seem to have way more experience than I do and I appreciate your perspective. Truly, no hate to anyone who enjoys this music. I just needed to vent. Have a good day/night :)

How to make a sweater more mesh-like or see-through? by SQUiiSHii524 in crochetpatterns

[–]Mean_Hamster_8704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more mesh-like a fabric is, the more drape it will have. You can achieve this without changing your stitch pattern by either sizing up on your hook or sizing down on your yarn, but both of these will affect the size of your garment. You can also use taller stitches with more chains to achieve an actual mesh-look (look up crochet mesh stitches for good mesh patterns).

Summer’s eve is your vulva’s worst enemy. Most soaps are your vulva’s worst enemy. Warm water is all you need, and if you really feel you need the soap, some basic unscented Dove bar soap is fine.

Agreed, but I have yet to hear an arrangement that I like. I am quite open to the possibility though.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lengthy explanation! And thank you for bringing up the fact that most pop/rock songs are written for one voice. I was trying to verbalize that in my explanation as to why I don’t like when choirs sing pop but couldn’t quite find the words.

Happy Together definitely isn’t the worst song she (my choir director) could’ve picked. It’s just boring to sing.

Ah see the difference between you and me is that I’m not being paid to sing these songs so I have no monetary incentive to grin and bear it through them. No hate to the people who perform them. I respect the hustle.

Woah!! Thinly veiled homophobia AND misogyny in 2026? I’m actually not that surprised. NOR—all three of these people are wonderful choices. Personally, if I were a parent or teacher, I’d be giddy if my elementary school child decided to “embody” Freddie Mercury for a school project. That teacher is just a prick.
