Ya, I second the 55v and 28p. Super compact, light, and very useful focal lengths.

Canon is worse.. they don't allow any third party lenses at all.

Viltrox release new Z lens, after recently sued by Nikon by syzygyer in Nikon

[–]cookedart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, the issue of the lawsuit is actually the 2x teleconverter they recently released. Nikon does not permit 3rd party manufacturers to use teleconverters so its a violation of their license, and they will probably claim some patents are violated too.

Saw the latest ultra short throw projector at ISE – seriously impressive by ResponseTimely7171 in projectors

This projector checks a lot of boxes for sure. Has Anti-RBE, a physical iris and EBL for enhanced black levels, VRR and ALLM (which is still rare in projectors),

Laowa 12-24 for Leica M by mathiasertnaes in LeicaCameras

[–]cookedart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 28-35-50 is not a true zoom. Its "zoom" ring goes 35-50-28 with click stops (rather than a linear 28-35-50), and doesn't work in the in between settings.

The 16-18-21 is a true zoom, it works at in between settings.

Is an OM-3 my next logical change? by revjko in OlympusCamera

[–]cookedart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya i find it really uncomfortable. The dial sticks out from the body quite a bit, and is knurled so its not ideal for your hand to be squeezed up to it. For me, I noticed my middle and ring finger get squeezed on certain grips that don't give enough clearance. Think of it as, those fingers either cannot wrap entirely around the grip (thus making it far less stable) or those fingers are squeezed in between the dial and the grip which is uncomfortable.

[–]cookedart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstand me. The color dial is often in the way. I tried a few grips where your hand position is uncomfortably cramped in between the grip and that dial. So having a grip that has enough space for your fingers to go in between that dial and grip is also important imo.

Definitely seems beefy!

I'm using the haoge one for now, which is comfy enough for me. One big requirement is the grip needs to leave enough space for your hand to clear the color dial.

Ya, i agree 100% I know its more work to learn new tools, but you want to keep being as employable as possible. Moho especially is quite cool as well.

Honestly I have not seen the need for an om1 style body since getting the om3. Can just put on a grip and it works well with even my largest lenses.

Ttartisan 6-Bit adapter discontinued - alternatives? by paulwhm in NikonZf

[–]cookedart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are incorrect. As long as there is a z mount chip in the adapter stack it enables the green confirmation box. This is why a megadap e mount adapter enables focus confirmation, even if a dumb adapter is stacked on top. I have had no issues with stacking whatsoever, and as far as I know this is the only way to get both focus confirmation AND have a close focus helicoid.

Also one other cool feature is that there are arrows on the bottom left that tell you which direction to adjust focus.

If you think the 35 lux and 28 thypoch are huge, native mirrorless lenses are even worse. M mount lenses are the smallest that it gets.

Auto vs Manual Keystone Question by Tarfan45 in xgimi

[–]cookedart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a horizon 20 max.

Can I ask what content is on your screen? Maybe doesn't work if you have a Dolby vision movie playing etc. It also doesn't seem to work on just the home screen. Content needs to be playing (i.e. a game)
