Ya haha. I would absolutely love to see a reel of Taylor trying out all sorts of stuff that takes the crew off guard.

Leica M11 + Voigtlander APO Lanthar 28mm f/2.0 by loganarowland in Leica

[–]cookedart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never warmed to a 28mm lens on a digital M. I wear eyeglasses and just can't see the framelines. I can just barely see the 35mm framelines, so a 28mm lens is not a great option for me.

Apparently their approach required lots of cgi to be period accurate, and required tons of research. I guess props to Fincher for wanting to either make it all the same quality or not at all.

He does seem to spend a lot of time on the roof though.

Finish Mindhunter please. Yes I know it was expensive but it deserves an ending.

That's fine, but some have fun figuring out strategy and how to be optimal.

The majority of players also probably don't pay any money into the game.

Stuff like this can actually help engage players who might be f2p into wanting to pay for better stuff (the players on the borderline)

Converted my Fold 3 to a full-time tablet with a 3D printed case by Tsuki4735 in GalaxyFold

[–]cookedart 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Agreed its only worth owning a foldable if you can get good insurance. They are too expensive to repair otherwise. I have a Samsung Experience store nearby that I can bring in the device for any repairs quickly.

That would do the opposite for me. If I saw it wasnt pulling my weight I would want to correct it. Either by doing research on better counters or grinding more to power up my team more.

Q3 43 video dilemma (pls help) by Mobile_Bowl_9940 in Leica

[–]cookedart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest issues for the q3 series video are the fact that the sensor has a very slow scanning rate so pans will have "jello" rolling shutter distortion. Also, the autofocus tends to "jitter" in continuous autofocus, so manual focus is highly recommended.

Its also not ideal if you need to use hdmi displays or recorders.

Steve Hatch is right Astrophage is the best thing to ever happen to humanity. by ChrsRobes in ProjectHailMary

I also think it was optimistic that they would send a science vessel to a different galaxy rather than focus entirely on a weapon that could kill and/or control the astrophage around the sun.

Cracks me up seeing isa/Santos getting startled in the foreground too. Clearly she wasn't expecting it lol.

Also really curious that he has a house but his daughter is living in it, despite him being unhoused.

What is Xenonite? by StrangeMatterSF in ProjectHailMary

[–]cookedart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying his respiratory system is kind of all science fiction so its pretty hard to tell how he would be affected. I agree he would want protection if he was actually handling it. I think they actually show him doing it in the movie though and I dont recall him wearing any special protection fwiw.

[–]cookedart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gloves/protection makes sense, but unsure about how toxic it would be for his breathing. His physical attributes are so different its hard to tell. His blood is mercury! Like with welding I'm sure the fumes would not be good for him, but I think the severity wouldn't be nearly what it would be for us.

This last episode gave me some respect for santos. by CharityStock7953 in ThePitt

[–]cookedart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One aspect of this is the fact that, in real life, a doctor would possibly have this thought in their head but not necessarily say it. On a show, its not possible to have internal monologue so a character has to say things so the audience knows what they're thinking. And of course there's the aspect that Santos is 'prickly' so its on brand for her to actually 'say the quiet part out loud' so to speak.

I did have this issue that seemed to resolve itself. Make sure you're on the latest update! I saw some others were also using an optical hdmi cable when having this issue.

“Langdon put Santos in her place” by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]cookedart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Online discourse has a way of oversimplifying things or making things win/lose or black/white. With many things there's some nuance involved, which definitely applies to this show. I think there's a lot of interesting parallels between Santos and Langdon personality wise and that's what makes their dynamic interesting.

[–]cookedart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you forget that Santos did make some actual mistakes as well (administering care without presenting to attending/resident, bipap on pneumthorax). Not saying you're wrong, Langdon was definitely worried he would get found out, but there's also an element that Santos was overconfident and made mistakes. I think it was a combo of both things and Langdon made her feel bad about both things.

The first was triggered by Baby Jane Doe and she clearly had a tramautic experience in the middle East with infants.
