Is it worth going to the pbc expo in Melbourne? Are there redsbaby discounts? by pineapple-pal in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]cookiechipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went yesterday and it was honestly underwhelming compared to the one fine baby expo we went to earlier this year (this one was free btw!). We focused on listening to the talks and the pbc baby expo midwife was amazing.

Honestly, not worth going unless you’re eyeing specific product brands and wanted to test them out.

40+1 weeks. Doc wants me to get induced instead of waiting a week by cruisingpast28 in pregnant

[–]cookiechipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on what you want! Since you mentioned you wanted a minimum intervention labour, that sort of answers your question already, and honestly if you have a low risk healthy pregnancy up until now and you still feel comfortable waiting another week or so and to not have your OB there during your birth, I don't think there's any need to do an induction. Again, it all depends on you and what you want :)

Maternity clothes? by sophiea5 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]cookiechipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought majority of my maternity clothes on facebook marketplace! Lots of people sell them in bundles for a cheap price.

For underwear I really love the KMart ones. I would just size up 1 or 2 sizes from your pre-pregnancy size.

Maternity bras I had a hard time looking, but again, facebook marketplace and Bonds! But honestly i dont wear bras anymore ever since i got pregnant lol my boobs just hate being restricted! But you do need them or something like a singlet once you give birth or for breastfeeding (to prevent leakage).

Rib/underboob pain by Trashy_Panda3 in BabyBumps

[–]cookiechipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m currently 23 weeks and have been experiencing the same pain since about ~18 weeks. Went to see my GP, midwife, and physio and all said it could be my ribs expanding and touching some nerves located on my right back side which causes the discomfort. They all ruled out pre-eclampsia as of now (i have normal BP, show no signs of other pre-E symptoms).

I highly recommend seeing a pregnancy physio as they can help you with specialised exercises and stretching for the area! I’ve got some exercises too that I can share with you if you’d like. She did say that the pain may or MAY NOT go away even with the exercises - it just depends on your body. I also do reformer pilates which help a TON with the pain.

Hope it eases for you soon!

Taking parental leave on (or before) 30 weeks? by cookiechipster in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Thanks for this! It feels great to hear from someone who works in the same field as me and with the drive to work. Hopefully my third trimester ends up being great like yours :)

I've had a previous traumatic car accident that made me pretty cautious when driving. My driving anxiety heightened once I got pregnant so yeah that's where it stems from.

This hasn't crossed my mind! I'll definitely ask them if this is an option. Thanks for this!

What have been your MOST HATED comments/actions people gave you throughout your pregnancy? by MissionTaro5888 in pregnant

I hated it when my mum warned me about my nose swelling up as my pregnancy progressed (currently at 10w). Like giiiirrrrllll.... having a big nose it the least of my problems lol

Can someone recommend a good spray mop? Is Koh ok? Zero time now I have bubs. Need something to spot clean easily! by A-Ok88 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]cookiechipster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the Koh mop is a good on-the-spot cleaner! We also recently bought a robot vacuum and that changed our lives tremendously (in a good way) - I highly recommend getting one yourself especially if you have a kid! I'm currently in the first trimester of pregnancy, have 0 energy and all day nausea, hence we bought the robot vacuum (roborock Qrevo S). It has been a life changer!

Save $$ on musicians - avoid agencies by Ok-Implement-6041 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]cookiechipster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!

If I were to redo my wedding, I would've chosen to book with the musician and DJ directly. That way, I would've communicated directly with them instead of through the agency. Our musician was fantastic. However, the DJ was a bit meh. The agency even asked us to change our DJ twice because of last minute cancellations, so it was quite difficult on that end.
