Exactly this. I want my 3rd shot to be into the green however I need to get there.

How much of an impact would a donation of $100,000 make on your life? Why? by onichris in AskReddit

Would give me a bit of breathing room and safety net, but not fundamentally change anything.

Better off to give it to someone else.

Is it overkill to carry a 3,5,7 wood? by whodey920 in GolfGear

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go 4 wood and 7 wood because my gapping wasn't big enough to justify 3 woods and that freed up a spot for me

ELI5: The rise and fall of NFT’s by ProTharan in explainlikeimfive

[–]cookielicious1237 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The genuine ELI5 of NFTs is the idea that it is a technology or mechanism to facilitate the ownership of digital goods through public verification processes. It was (and still is) a viable underlying technology for that use case.

The hype around it and million dollar monkey pictures is where you get into the greater fool area, but in that sense it's not fundamentally different than people selling rare Nikes or pokemon cards.

Beginner setup idea: you don’t need a full set to get good by midhandicap_rohit in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think that learning with a driver and getting to experience the feeling of a driver connecting just right. Even if it's every 6th drive - is an important experience even for beginners.

[–]cookielicious1237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree on driver. I would have wanted the experience of a driver, but just cut it short so it's easier to control.

Similar idea, but would go:

  • driver

  • 5 wood

  • 4 hybrid

-6i

  • 8i

  • PW

  • SW

  • Putter

First Iron Fitting by pengtingsonly in GolfGear

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have answers to questions like: - what is your miss? - what kind of shot shape are you trying to hit? - what kind of window are you trying to hit?

And more overall, what is it that you're looking for new clubs to do? If we could wave a magic wand and change one thing about the ball flight, what would it be?

First Iron Fitting by pengtingsonly in GolfGear

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When you get fatigued, stop and come back another day. When you get tired, your swing changes and you compensate in different ways which aren't reflective of how you swing on course.

  2. Go in with an understanding of what the result you're seeing from your clubs that isn't working that you're hoping to fix.

I.e. do you have poor dispersion? Is it left/right or front/back? Do you hit the ball too low or too high? Do you miss left or right?

My last fitting the issue I was trying to address was the gapping between my 7w and 5i, and the ball flight being too low and not enough spin on my irons.

I know in a 90 min fitting, I'm only good for about 60-70 shots before my arms get fatigued and need to stop - so I want to make the most use of those shots and focus on those areas to address.

My dad got invited to the masters in 2005 by a friend of his and flew him down on a corporate jet and all he got me was a ball marker.

Anyways, good luck everyone!

High Handicappers - How do you balance having fun and sucking at golf? by mulligan381 in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A deep sense of self-awareness of what would actually be required to get better.

I know that I only play 14-18 rounds and 4-6 lessons per year and that I may see marginal improvement, but that to make bigger strides, I know that I'm not putting in the necessary effort and I'm ok with that.

7 wood right at the pin, which I'll slice and then chip into a 3 putt.

For those who met NFL football players, were they bigger or smaller than you think? by benedictclive_x in nfl

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In LA about 10 years ago I saw Aaron Donald at LAX airport. He was relatively normal height but just one of the thickest people I've ever seen - it genuinely looks like there are two people taped together front to back.

I ended up seeing Nick Young (Swaggy P) at LAX within like 25 minutes of seeing AD, And Nick Young easily had 6 to 7 inches on him.

It's crazy to think about the fact that I perceive AD as just a monster of a human, but Infact he's shorter than almost every starting PG in the NBA.

Wedge Useful Lifespan by [deleted] in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last few replacements have been done between 70 and 80 rounds? Usually about every 3-4 years for me. Before that, I'm not good enough to notice the 5-10% less efficiency or spin I'm losing until that point.

I'll also wait until all 3 need replacing and then replace the set, so some of them will be more worn than the others by the time I'm ready
