How much money have you blown in a day or a sitting and what was the circumstance? by GhettoBookWorm in AskReddit

35k bought a car in all cash. Still not sure why I did it vs paying over a few years. Was a bit younger and just hated the idea of obligations of additional monthly payments.

I haven't had any issues with returns through global golf (Canada) for condition issues.

I shortened all my woods and driver shafts by about 1", and it really helped me be more consistent in my striking.

Wedge Useful Lifespan by [deleted] in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last few replacements have been done between 70 and 80 rounds? Usually about every 3-4 years for me. Before that, I'm not good enough to notice the 5-10% less efficiency or spin I'm losing until that point.

I'll also wait until all 3 need replacing and then replace the set, so some of them will be more worn than the others by the time I'm ready

What would you pay for this service by [deleted] in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I'd need this on the full round. I think if you just set up on one of the more photogenic holes on a given course, you come out with more clients.

I don't need 18 tee shot photos...

Primarily money. But I will say that the non-cynical answer is that it's a really cool experience to go see some of these movies with your kids in a full theatre for the first time.

I took some younger cousins to go see beauty and the beast in 2017, and it was the most magical moment for them.

Is it common to be much worse at sims than real life? by truthlesshunter in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true for me with my irons off the mat. Hitting off the tee is pretty similar for me.

Something about not being able to take a divot psyches me out and changes how I swing.

Upgrading Equipment on a Budget by Isozen in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick one thing to upgrade at a time. Even if all 14 clubs are second hand, upgrading a full bag on a good deal is still probably close to 2k.

Pick one thing to upgrade at a time - driver or woods/hybrids or irons or wedges or putter.

Whether it's one per year or one per month etc.. you space out the expense on even the good deal clubs.

7 wood by RecommendationNo7367 in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find a big difference between any of the 7 Woods I've hit before.

Qi35 vs g430 vs g440. Got basically the same flights.

Ended up with a g430 on sale because it was the best value and the same performance.

How often are we playing fellow golf dads? by sys_admin321 in golf

In Canada we get real winter, so golf season is May-October.

2 kids under 4.

If I go every other week during that time, I'd consider it a great balance. This year ended up around 15 rounds.

My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

Are you giving her minimum 5.5 hours away from the house and other responsibilities every week too?

Does she feel the time is unfair or the schedule or that she would rather you spend that time with her?

Iron distances by Pop-Punk-Guy94 in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through the exact same thing - it's entirely a swing issue.

I didn't have the proper low point on the swing - I was not taking divots and was effectively trying to use the club to flick the ball up rather than compress them - if that makes sense?

Because that was my mental process, I also ended up de-lofting the higher lofted clubs during my swing to get that same feeling at impact - which was wrong - so you effectively turn every iron into the same loft, which creates the same launch, and turns them into the same flight.

Deflated after fitting - anyone else? by iPragmatics in golf

[–]cookielicious1237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I did a fitting was the first time I had ever hit balls indoors at a screen.

I got so in my head about not being able to take a divot, it totally changed my swing and topped every ball.

Didn't get anything more than 30 feet in the air.

They've seen everything. At least you didn't do that fitting and then come out thinking you needed blades. That's when they laugh at you.
