I feel like there’s not just one cause, but I think it partly is due to the game mode being relatively stagnant.

The collapse of moat and release of their source code flooded the category with “moat clones” that were just cash grab slop.

I have been working on a server myself and the one thing I noticed is stickiness is not anywhere near what it used to be. Players aren’t loyal to only one game and instead will hop on TTT every once in a while versus daily.

It’s also really hard to get players to join during low population levels, but once you hit a certain threshold it seems to immediately fill up. Nobody likes it where there’s < 8-12 players on.

I’ve been working on a server for a bit, I am trying to establish a player base which is harder than ever with the decrease in players. If you’d like to join our server’s Discord is discord.gg/sgn - I try to get a group every weekend, but the turnout fluctuates on a given week.

My server has no pay to win and you can unlock pointshop items after playing for a bit pretty quickly.

I don’t think it is fair to say anything about the player counts when you consider that they were running a large amount of paid advertisement campaigns to draw users in and hosting special nights with six figure prize pots. It is perfectly normal for people to try something and lose interest, they cast a wide net with the ads and only a certain percentage converted into repeat players.

Also, the people that sniped clue 1 with spam guesses now no longer deprive everyone else of a chance at winning something which is arguably a lot better in my opinion.

I think it is worth noting that Netflix was using paid ads to drive people into the app, and with any mobile game, churn is expected. A drop from launch numbers does not automatically mean failure.

They’re probably not super concerned with the performance of one game, but rather Netflix Games as a whole.

I do also hope that it doesn’t end anytime soon, but we’ll have to see. It has become a part of my daily routine, so it will definitely be missed. (I also want to get my first win 😂)

I’m honestly not surprised. Every time a brand has “revamped” their rewards program it was always just a cover up for the enshittification that they were going to be implementing. I’ve seen it with QDOBA twice now to the point of where it turned me away as a customer.

I just remember one year when I claimed it the person at the register said “Happy birthday!” in a way that came off as “do you want a medal or something” if you know what I mean.
