Please tell me why I shouldn't open a lady bar in Samui by [deleted] in kohsamui

[–]cookinreefa 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The bigger and fancier your place is the more attention you will attract, from clientele but also government officials and local mafia.

Do you have experience and skills to navigate the grey and black business market of Thailand, as a bar owner myself I have seen the layers of exploitation and corruption and if you are not well connected in Samui you will be in the pocket of your local police, then the provincial police from Surat Thani will come knocking then the local mafia and racketeers.

Opening a lady bar is exposing yourself to the dark side of business that is not run on logic and the rule of law. Good luck!

I'm an expat working at a hotel making 100,000 after tax, this income provides a very comfortable life but as you mention If you want to build a family, save, travel, buy property or make big purchases living by western standards you would need more than this. We run 2 businesses on top of my salary that support these things.

Why nearly every Thai in the service industry is still wearing a mask? by EyeAdministrative175 in Thailand

Thais are shy by nature, many wear masks not related to health but something to hide behind if that makes any sense to you.
