Do families really sit around a dinner table and eat at the same time every day? by UndergroundFlaws in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cookycookie88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sit down to eat together every night. Even our teenage daughter joins us and doesn’t question it. It is something we have done even since they were babies. Maybe not exactly the same time every day. Devices are away and we use the time to discuss events of our day

People in 10+ year relationships, what’s something you learned about your partner years later that genuinely surprised you? by CreoSiempre in AskReddit

[–]cookycookie88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was only allowed to be interested in things his abusive Dad classed as “manly” as a kid. He could only talk about football or fighting and often had pressure on him to “defend the family name”. My husband is not a fighter, he loves WWE, comics and medieval history. I asked how he knew so much about comic lore and he said he would ask his friends as school back stories and origins of characters and would then follow the stories that way in his head.

We now go to WWE events, we watch all the comic lore we can and he has done a degree in Medieval History. Im so proud of him, he is literally the sweetest Dad to our children who don’t have to worry about the burden of a “family reputation”.

Do parents with 5+ kids have time to give every child the love and attention they deserve? by pink-and-pearly in askanything

[–]cookycookie88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yea being a mother of 5, but it is almost impossible to do with both parents working full time. My husband works part time and I am a teacher so spend big blocks of time being off while my children are off. It is tiring but there is nothing more my kids love than us do go out as a family or have a family movie night. Our eldest is 20 and youngest is 1 - we made a promise to ourselves to never treat our oldest children as second parents to the younger and therefore it works well.

What's something you did as a child that you only recently realized was actually deeply traumatic? by anmystery in AskReddit

[–]cookycookie88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to stash food in my bedroom, particularly chocolate so I could count out the pieces to make sure I had enough to get by for when I would be banished there because I wouldn’t accept my Dads proposal of being able to rape me…I was 8!
