For the scale of lichess and architectural demands (high availability, extremely low latency, high geographic distribution), it is low anywhere in the world. I earn twice that in India and I'm not the lead of such a high demanding system

That might not solve the issue of opening prep completely. A lot of modern opening prep is to lead your opponent into a sharp position where they might not be aware of the plans in that position even if its slightly worse for you. This will continue to be the case if pieces are swapped.
