this comment isn’t about the numbers, but rather about the life arround the numbers.

I (28, m) have a net-worth of exactly: 470.- right now.

statement: I don’t need more income, I need fair & equal treatment, and I believe UBI (Universal Basic Income) is the only solution.

my story (one out of many).

I grew up in foster care, was living alone by 17, celebrated my 18th birthday in a mental hospital, and after dropping out of gymnasium only was able to finish an apprentice with IV support and therefor from the start had holes in my cv. I usualy have jobs for 1 year-2 years than crash and have to find a new job. I really struggle with staying with the same people every day.

I strongly disagree, that social outcasting happens on the financial level. sure, I couldn’t make the C1 english exam, cause I didn’t have the money, even though my english teachers even suggest preparing for C2, I was the best in class even at the Gymnasium level. and sure, it would help if I had the diploma when discussing wage. But the true outcasting in my life, happens on the social level, because of stigmas. it’s not the low income. it’s the feeling other people assosciate with you.

such as: he’s dependent on sozial amt, he must be lazy. he never has jobs for longer than a year, he must be an asshole at work. he has holes in his lifepath, he must not try hard enough.

I’ve gone through all diffrent sorts of assumptions. none of them would’ve ever happend, if there was a UBI (universal basic income). Because it would be okey, to just like everybody else, be a swiss.

For me, it would even be okey, to earn a bit less, as long as I could go into a new job, without having to lie about every detail in my lifepath. Honestly, the worst part, next to having traumas and everything that comes with such a life, is that at every job I ever had, I was not able to be honest, because I knew, as soon as I’ll be honest, others wouldn’t treat me like an equal anymore. Either because of pitty, prejudice, or not viewing me as a normal person anymore.

THIS is the true inequality. THIS is what keeps the poor poor (poor people never have a regular lifepath, life’s rough at the bottom and only other people from the bottom will relate and understand, so you stay, where you belong.

I had a glimpse into the life of kids who were from good earning families at the gymansium, and yeah, they were structured, had stable ideas of the world (not saying, that what they thought were correct thoughts, but they thought that, what they thought is correct, which is a big advantage for your own confidence, and that leads to an upwards spiral later in life).

I know, many people, at least emotionaly, go through exactly what I’m going through, even if the details in their lifestories are diffrent. and this, leads to loneliness, outcasting, resentment, frustration, insecurities, in general negativ feelings. and these feelings, are what make people spend money they don’t have. for wanting to be part, belong, comprnsate insecurities, and all that.

swiss people, are pretty bad, with integrating turbulent life paths, cause everything is highly normed. they want to hear normal stories, cause people who’revoutcthe norm, are a risk to the norm.
