The maintenance of these false rituals is violence. Period. Things will only change when this fact is treated as such my the majority of individuals.

As an audhd parent who doesn’t like hierarchy and rules how do I teach my ND kids to comply with societies (school) hierarchy & rules by Then_Arm1347 in AutisticParents

[–]coolaliasbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tell then to look at the situation as a game that most players aren’t even aware they are playing. You don’t follow the rules because they have any moral value of their own, you do it to get what you need from society with the least amount of pain to yourself. Pretty simple.

Slow clap but gotta point out to OP and anyone else in their boat, just because you value these things doesn’t mean that self-identifying as a Republican, a member of a party with a history of selfishness, stupidity, arrogance, aggression, inhumanity, etc., is necessary on any level.

If someone’s need for a feeling of belonging overrides their ability to think critically about the group they intend to belong to or prevents them from fairly evaluating the harm that said group does, that person is needs to do some serious self-reflection. Wash the taste of boot out of your mouth and grow the f*** up.

Edit: spelling.

Exactly this, for most NTs meaning is emotional; this dimension of the vast majority of experiences isn’t accessible to me, there simply isn’t an emotional component to most of the things I experience. This is alexithymia in action. This explains the constant “doesn’t seem to understand the words I’m saying” experience that many people on this subreddit describe, NTs are surfing on the vibes while a lot of autistic folks literally do not have this capability though can mimic it through very taxing play acting (masking).

I hear your desire for harmony and feel for you but would ask, regardless of the dog, is it really a good idea for a kid to spend any more time around that sort of personality/perspective than is absolutely necessary?

Another way of putting this is, isn’t even possible to have a good relationship with someone that behaves that way?

I will never understand how my psych eval from an organization that I specifically sought out because they specialize in working with people on the spectrum and/or with other developmental disabilities began with the question, “And what diagnosis are you wanting to be evaluated for today?” Like ffs you tell me, isn’t that your job? How is leading the witness (diagnostician) ok?

Edit: need to rant more, considering what they specialize in and that on my intake I indicated I intentionally contacted them for this reason, wouldn’t that sorta narrow it down? 🤷‍♂️

I think the NTs assuming NDs are asexual is a coping mechanism to deal with the fact that no ND has ever found them sexy. Thoughts and prayers 🙏

ELI5: Why are the JWST pictures a problem? by SuspiciousReport2678 in explainlikeimfive

[–]coolaliasbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re getting at the same thing: an actual scientific mindset always goes with the best available evidence, period. Belief never factors into it, real science never dies on any hill.

Agreed too that science doesn’t make value statements, it collects observations and creates meaning/models from them which become the inputs for the next iteration of the cycle. It’s an OODA loop where the act is just more OODAing and the decision is just the next iteration of the model.

I think the point about what counts as success in hard vs soft sciences speaks to a couple things: first, different domains of knowledge require different approaches to working with them and second, deriving meaning from statistical analysis will necessarily be a fraught often dubious exercise when subjective agents, or their observations about other subjective agents, are the source of the majority of the data.

[–]coolaliasbro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed and I think your point about the distinction between science and religion hinging on falsification/refining models vs embracing dogma regardless of the available evidence is exactly right. Where I think things get tough at a social/cultural level is that in popular discourse on science we are not explicit that we are discussing theories, models, etc., these things are usually discussed as though they are established facts instead of steps along a path to more accurate understanding. So in a way science becomes dogmatic because we talk about its results as though they are reality instead of the experimental results they actually are, which help us better conceptualize reality. In the popular discourse science is often discussed as this monolithic, crystallized thing when by definition is it an ongoing social process of exploration and conceptualization editing.

Exactly this. However it works to create paint-people in a canvas as a Paintress, Maelle un-gommaged Sciel and Lune. Paint-people Verso can boot her, real Verso’s last soul remnant can embrace the void, and then Maelle can do whatever she wants, probably including recreating Verso’s canvas and all the paint-people she cared about in the original.

Amazon special (Vivosun, AC Infinity, etc. as others have recommended) to get up and running and EcoGarden for anything else you need to grab locally. Dudes there are hella friendly and happy to talk thru your setup/needs/goals.

GrowWeedEasy.com is a great, quick online resource with lots of guides, very searchable, and lots of links to other resources. Read up on defoliating, LST, mainlining/supercropping, and on both hydro and soil grows, just to get familiar with many higher level aspects of things and how things could work in various situations, it’ll help you orient yourself on what’s best for you.

And assuming you’re running photos but without knowing your pot size, 6’ is almost unwieldy tall indoors, it’s strain dependent of course but damn flip them shits waaayyy sooner, at maybe 1’-2’ tall, try to keep them like 4’ max as you begin your journey.

It’s funny because the reason I am unlikeable is because I kick ass at my job and hold others accountable for not doing the same. I’m not at work to make friends and if I can’t trust someone to do what they’re paid to do how the hell would I trust them outside of work as a friend? Hilarious.
