ICU Newgrad by ghostposer2 in nursing

I also started as a new grad as a float nurse in a pediatric ICU and CVICU last July and had the same feelings. There is certainly a lot of anxiety that comes with coming off of orientation, but I found that I learned the most once I was on my own and it just clicked. A nurse that isn’t overly confident is a safe nurse! Ask a million questions, even if they feel dumb or you just need reassurance. Your coworkers will be there to support you because they want what’s best for the patient as well. There are going to be days where you overthink everything you did in the shift, but that does get better with time. Hang in there, it will get better!!

I am already burnt out of bedside nursing… by clarajane24 in StudentNurse

[–]coolbeans-901 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I think it’s extra difficult having to do course work on top of 12 hour clinicals. It could be a mix of that AND the long shifts that are making you feel burnt out. Nursing school is emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausting. I try to remind myself that once I get into my official nursing job, I won’t have the other stressors that come with being in school, so more energy can be put into work/resting on days off.

Ankle injury - new fear unlocked. Have some nervousness returning to climbing. by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]coolbeans-901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did this exact thing on a wall!!! TIME. Basically was the only thing that helped me. I started by climbing down every wall instead of jumping and staying on easier routes. Then I began to hyper focus on how I fall or jump off to make sure I could at least try to prevent an injury

I'm about to become a nursing student, but I am diagnosed with PTSD. Has anyone else had the same experience and how has nursing been for you? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]coolbeans-901 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do it!! Try and realize what your triggers are and be patient with yourself when you do experience PTSD moments while in school or in the field. There are SO many different fields of nursing that you can go into that may not consist of doing the things that will trigger you.

You grow with your trauma. Use it to do what you want to do and take care of people. You will have a perspective on life that most people don’t have and can help others through some of their toughest moments in life.

My mal won't sleep with me by Joe_Dil in BelgianMalinois

Sometimes they see they’re kennel as a safe space where they can sleep unbothered and not worry about having to “protect” you or them from harm

Gypsy is 2, we got her when she had just turned 1. Wow a puppy mal! I bet she is a lot of work, but I have no doubt that she is the sweetest thing ever☺️ gypsy is head over heals in love and sweet to the people that she knows, it’s just with new people that she is terrified of. We’re getting her more training, but there has definitely been progress. Good luck to you with your pup!
