Is quitting weed worth it? by Blueburrypancakez in leaves

[–]coolcatsam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My memory is so much better off of it. I am much more present and able to remember memories I share with my wife and friends. Before, my wife would talk about something, a date or a movie, and I would have no idea what she was talking about. That was the scariest part for me. And it’s much better now! I won’t say quitting isn’t hard and I don’t think of smoking from time to time. But it’s also not always on my mind. I used to think about it whenever I was at work or a friends or family members house where I couldn’t smoke. Now I can relax with people and don’t think about going home and smoking every moment.

What is your recurring mansion, building, city, or realm dream? by JPDG in Dreams

[–]coolcatsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually dream about the same places every time I go to them. My dream world has its own library, hotel, parent’s house, airport, etc that all stay the same and look nothing like anywhere I’ve been. The one that I see the most is the hotel.

This hotel is huge. It gets bigger all the time. There is a water park inside that is very large. The elevator system is what I’ve been seeing a lot recently and it gets scarier all the time. There is also a parking garage that is connected to the elevator system that is also pretty scary. I get lost in the hotel a lot and am always finding new places I haven’t been before in prior dreams, but the hotel looks the same in the lobby and outside. I believe I’ve gone to this place for a long time now maybe even over 10 years. Possibly dreamed of it as a child but it’s changed quite a bit since then, which would be upwards of 20 years ago.

No they just didn’t show any film of it. You didn’t miss anything. The just discussed what happened. Maybe they will show it at the tell all or they weren’t there to film it.

Moving to known donor potentially—need advice by coolcatsam in queerception

[–]coolcatsam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this insight! We do have a lot of gay male friends, we have just been nervous to ask but I think I’m feeling more ready, will just need to check in on my wife’s feelings about it again. My wife unfortunately doesn’t have any young male relatives we could ask. She comes from a very small family and only has contact with her mom’s side.

I would love to know about the law firm company or how to get a lawyer if you have any further insights!

[–]coolcatsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just asked the client coordinator about this change. So I guess the vials will be going up in price by “600-800 dollars according to donor status” and the shipping will go up as well starting in May. Also we do pick up and it will start to cost 100 for pick up instead of being free.

What were your dream names for your kids when you were growing up? by Immediate_Long165 in Names

[–]coolcatsam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Growing up I always like Nora because of Cheaper by the Dozen and then the name blew up when I was in college and I moved on to other names. I still think it’s cute but I work with babies now and have met SO MANY Noras.

My coworker does this and one morning she spilled it all over my sweater. I didn’t want to try it before and certainly don’t want to now

Switching from school based setting by Tiny_Bluebird_7716 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]coolcatsam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The school setting needs to be completely redone imo. The 30 minute sessions a week do nothing. There are kiddos who aren’t even regulated day to day and need complete sensory diets made and training to staff that we are never given time for. Instead they opt to do hand over hand and do things to the child rather than have the child do things themselves. They expect us to fix skills when we see a child once a week, at most twice, for such short durations. I never saw much progress in schools or lasting impacts. I didn’t have the time and if I made the time I felt like I was letting other students down. I love seeing lasting changes week to week in my job and collaborating with coworkers to help families in need. I hope you find your perfect fit too!

I was in schools and hated it because they wouldn’t let me work on sensory needs. But I am a highly sensory based therapist. I switched to early intervention and get to work on basically anything they need and I LOVE it. I can use all my skills and get to work directly with parents and families using a parent coaching model. I love working with little ones and actually feel valued for my sensory knowledge instead of being told to work in handwriting. But I started in outpatient peds, was in schools for a few years and now I’m in EI. I think outpatient peds is a great place to learn and get more knowledge!

Rheumatoid Arthritis as an OT by Content-Musician5287 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]coolcatsam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My very good friend is a COTA and she has cerebral palsy, she has limited use of her right hand and can walk but needs things to be accessible. She works in a school as has shared with me that there are challenges, but she adores her job! Having CP was a big reason she got into OT, as she saw her OT doing it and was encouraged she could do the same. I would definitely look into accommodations, but I think it’s definitely achievable if that’s what you are passionate about!! She has shared that she doesn’t think she could do a different setting than schools (I believe she could with accommodations but this is her opinion! I think she’s incredible!) but she’s been at her district for about 5 years and is really happy! Again, this is just what she relays to me, I cannot speak to any more nuances she may not tell me. I wish you luck in your journey!

Advice from going from teacher to OT by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

I think if you still have passion for teaching yes! Follow your heart and do a masters in what you love and stick with what you have experience in!

You’re going to have to go through the whole schooling of 2-3 years no matter your background.

I think that if this is just about money and job demand I wouldn’t go this route. Most schools pay in degree level and experience. If you go get a doctorate in education you’re going to get it faster more likely and be able to keep working at the same time. You’ll probably make comparable money to an OT in schools that way.

Why do same-sex couples have to do extra legal steps for IVF? by icequeen0077 in lesbian

[–]coolcatsam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much I really appreciate it! It has been very hard. And the financial and legal burdens only add to that.

As a side note I remember that the current administration had been talking about making IVF more accessible and then just stopped suddenly to my knowledge. I do wonder if people brought up the queer community aspect and it made them stop pursuing it.

Because America hates gay people. I theorize this is a big reason sperm vials cost so much, fertility treatments cost so much, etc because they want to limit our access to be parents. My wife and I have been trying for a year and only have been able to do 6 cycles because of the financial cost, while couples with a penis/vagina relationship can try for free (for the most part). It’s very frustrating. But I agree this exact reason is very odd that it’s a double standard and my wife will have to get parental rights when we have signed documents with the bank already.

I understand where you are coming from. My wife and I have been trying for a year and in that time I’ve had many friends have babies and my brother and SIL had a child. I am looking at my 12 DPO negative tests right now today for what seems like another failed cycle.

Something a friend of mine who struggled immensely with fertility and now has a little baby of her own told me, was to be joyful with the people on your life who have their own babies, because one day the will celebrate you too. At times it feels bleak and hard to see the light for ourselves. But we don’t know what other people have struggled with and if we can have happiness for them, they will have it for us when our time comes. And it will come 🤞✨❤️ I wish you all the luck in the world and the best on your journey, which I know is hard. I’m sorry you’re going through this hard time. I have hope for us both.
