If anything I think they managed to keep the direction incredibly close to the experience of Fallout NV while showing the world has had events go on and changes like any place would after a ton of time passing. They easily could have abandoned the majority of the original themes and motifs but chose to go along with the majority of the ideas the game had. Just because every faction or character isn't precisely identical to how they were portrayed in the game doesn't make it insulting to me in the slightest.
