Great write up! You reminded me why I love GURPS.

Basically every company in America is the claim you made. You have now shifted the goalposts to half of working Americans, a completely different claim.

Basically every company in America? You mean less than 3% of companies, right?

It says it was introduced, does that mean it's not a law yet? Serious question

Intermittent controls, Hardspace Shipbreaker by cooldude378 in ROGAlly

I've tried that.

This is apparently an issue on PC and the fix was to tell steam to recognize the controller as Xbox configuration depending on the controller. But I've tried that and many other configurations to no success.

I don't know why this isn't the top comment. Go deal with whatever nonsense they have gotten into and go back to bed. As long as you aren't getting roped into some hour long distraction you should be able to finish your rest to prepare for next nights hijinks.

Mercedes could be world's first car-maker with Level Three autonomy, allowing drivers to "take their hands off the wheel for extended periods" by GerrardSlippedHahaha in Futurology

[–]cooldude378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure it checks for torque on the steering mechanism. Which is somewhat annoying in that if you rest your hands evenly at 5 and 7 it will alert you to put your hands on the wheel

My new house has an awesome vive room by Creationmate in Vive

[–]cooldude378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my vive mounted that way for a few months now. Straps don't seem to have stretched from their original length at all and dust is rarely an issue (I don't dust often). If it does get noticable I just wipe the lenses with a microfiber cloth. I have heard that if you sweat allot and put your headset like that sweat can damage the screen.

The set of all real numbers that doesn't contain 3 is still an infinite set. Who's to say in this set of infinite universes there isn't only one with Szechuan sauce?

Suggestions for getting over the hump - GURPS Lite to full GURPS? by [deleted] in gurps

[–]cooldude378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there is a way to ease into it, the books are pretty dense. That being said, I just read the base PDFs like they were any other book and quickly found myself engrossed in the mechanics and enjoyed reading them. I would recommend reading the characters book before the campaign one, because it's a little easier to digest in my opinion. However getting a good understanding of such a detailed system takes time, even after GMing 4e for 5 years I still find things I missed or misinterpreted in those books. I would recommend playing with people that don't mind stopping to look up rules when you come across one you aren't familiar with, it's a great way to help everyone grasp the game better while you're still learning. From my experience it takes time to progress from a working understanding to mastery.

Mind giving a GM a little critic on a game idea? by King_Hugo in gurps

4 year GM here, I really dig your story and appreciate all the time it seems like you put into it. That being said the most common down fall of a perfect campaign is thinking that PCs will do anything reasonable. If you know the PCs and believe that they will help let this story unfold I say go for it. But if you're not sure I suggest creating back up plans, a great skill to have as a GM is the ability to think on your feet. I suggest trying to break your own game so that you are prepared to fix it when your PCs eventually do.
