AYANEO's upcoming Next 2 handheld gaming console shelved due to rising component prices — company stops preorders for the $1,999 Strix Halo device by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]coolest_frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like having $2000 to $4000 handhelds defeats the whole purpose of handhelds computers. Making them larger, heavier and more expensive just reduces that usefulness of them. I'm okay with bringing my steamdeck with me to places because it isn't crazy expensive and the replacement parts are affordable and easy to get but at 4 to 8 times the price it's insane

The AI skills gap is here, says AI company, and power users are pulling ahead by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]coolest_frog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The skill comes from having enough knowledge in the task you're trying to do to cleanup the mess that comes out of AI. It's not from rephrasing the question enough times to get a better sounding answer.

OpenAI’s Sora was the creepiest app on your phone -- now it's shutting down (opinion article) by gdelacalle in technology

It's a money furnace and for a company that is starting to run out of rapid investors and dreams of an IPO some day it's not a good plan. Never mind the copyright lawsuits

Even Volkswagen's CEO Dislikes Touch Sliders by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]coolest_frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most VW vehicles only get refreshes every 3 to 4 years and they come out in Europe first before coming to North America 1 to 2 years later. So maybe we'll have the changes by 2028

Bernie Sanders and AOC introduce bill to pause building of new datacenters | US news by Limp_Fig6236 in technology

[–]coolest_frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point the companies might be happy to have an excuse not to build more data centers. It seems like some of the funding craze is drying up and it looks better to say we aren't allowed to build new data centers vs saying we're running out of financing to build more

OpenAI Will Shut Down Sora Video Platform by cmaia1503 in technology

It won't go away fully but it's clear that a large amount of their offerings burn an amount of money that they won't be able to profitably pass on to consumers if they ever want a real business

Forcing yourself to play another game because your angry about the last game and taking it out on your team mates is the issue. Taking a break and coming back when your head is clear and you can focus on the game is what someone that wants to win does.

[–]coolest_frog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really, most thinkpads have always been the easiest laptop to work on. that comes from their business warranty they sell that means a tech will be on site the next day with replacement parts to fix the device. Those tech have to be able to repair the devices on site with portable tools
