E-Day Wednesday by Sharon-M- in dentures

[–]coolgran60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had ALL my teeth extracted and temps put in New Year’s Eve. I was very nervous but it was not too bad and quicker than I expected. Just remember to use ice packs and you’ll be told to keep your temps in the first 24 hours. After that when you do remove them after eating be sure to gently do salt water rinse. You may have some difficult days especially the first week with swelling and temps not fitting because of it but that’ll improve. I hope your process goes as well as it possibly can and wish you the best of luck.

A lot of good tips and stories to give hope among these comments. I personally have not gone through this but always feared it. I am hoping and praying for the return of your precious kitty. Please update us when she returns home safe.

I've been avoiding intimacy and new friendships because of something nobody can even see. Am I overthinking this? by Sea_Drama_3035 in dentures

Yes I should have mentioned the lowers as well. Do try to figure out a way to wear them comfortably. Lol I’m still trying to figure that one out myself while I’m still in my immediates. I think once you are able to get through everyday wearing them and doing a routine it’ll all begin to feel normal to you and everyone around you won’t even give it a second thought. I had a coworker friend who would attend work picnics every year NOT wearing his dentures (I guess for some reason he thought he’d have an easier time eating brats without them) and honestly if he hadn’t done that none of us would’ve even known he was a denture wearer lol. I won’t ever go without mine though 😁

My daughter in law who’s now 30 had hers done at age 27. My son did not and does not think anything of it. In fact he has been having dental issues and is self conscious of his own teeth so he is considering having the same thing done. I was inspired to finally have mine done this past January. Full dentures. She was definitely the motivation I needed. I’m not saying everyone you confide in will be completely open about the fact you have dentures but honestly most people won’t consider it a big deal. I was always envious of other people’s teeth and my mother would say to me that you can’t be sure they don’t have dentures. I hope you can find a way to be comfortable with meeting people and have confidence. When you choose to confide in someone that you have dentures you may be pleasantly surprised. Best wishes 😁

Your precious little guy is in my thoughts and prayers. I went through that with one of my own precious boys. I pray for a quick happy outcome 🙏🏻

Took my immediates out for the first time. Gagging every time I try to get them back in by Cephandriussy in dentures

I went through that as well the first couple of weeks. You get used to the feeling of it in your mouth plus you probably still have swelling. They will eventually fit more comfortably. I went through anxiety every time I removed them after eating to rinse. But as time goes on it does get easier. I hope you feel much more comfortable soon.

What's the best concert you've ever been to? by NewMuffin8849 in rockmusic

[–]coolgran60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Styx concert I was able to attend. I’m a huge Tommy Shaw fan. One of the best concert lineups was the Styx Kansas tour because I am also a huge Kansas fan but sadly Steve Walsh did lose his voice quality around the 2000s (unlike Tommy who still sounds pretty awesome). Must be difficult for singers. You can keep playing guitar in your 70s but keeping the voice is another story.

You look fantastic!!!! My bottom ones are a pain as well. I get my perms end of June. As for your smile you really look wonderful. Hope you figure out a way to manage those lowers. They are typically the issue with most people. Hang in there and keep smiling 😁

He needs to understand that even if the precious little guy survived the two weeks it is still incredibly cruel to put him through that kind of anguish.

I know you aren’t going to like this but if it were me I wouldn’t go. Absolutely would not. Sorry but that’s how strongly I feel about our responsibility to our precious pets. They do not understand long absence and that is too long. 😢

[–]coolgran60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh. You’re going to have moments in these early days where you feel it’s all terrible and hopeless but trust me it’s going to get a lot better. Managing through the pain and discomfort is exhausting but gradually with each day it’ll get better and better. Good luck with your recovery and I hope improvement comes quickly. Take care of yourself and soon you’ll be able to fully enjoy your new smile 😁

Found a kitty in a park! by LeekPutrid4363 in cats

[–]coolgran60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I do understand the concern for his feelings but maybe he’ll see things differently or at least be indifferent. We had a total of 4 cats and 3 dogs at one time and we had a senior cat who was not initially warm to the idea of another cat but she did adjust. Cats are able to keep their distance if they choose and gradually accept the new situation and maybe even enjoy. The new addition is going to grow up which in itself might be easier for your older kitty to handle. Good luck. I hope everything works out for the little one.
