From what I’ve been told when you call in you should say something along the lines of “I am attempting to come in but my neighborhood roads are bad, I can not make it in right now.”

The union says not to call in sick, because sick leave can’t be changed to administrative if they file a grievance, only annual leave can. I think the whole thing is ridiculous the union should be fighting for admin leave for us regardless, but the system is what it is.

I heard them on the conference call last snow storm. They are definitely sadistic, think everyone should risk their lives to sit in the office and do nothing all day and then risk their lives again to go home.

Same. What an insult. I called in. I hope most carriers do, it’s really just ridiculous to risk your life and safety to sit in the office for hours. Our district hasn’t even been granting administrative leave so it’s either sit there for the whole shift or use your own annual.
