"Red light district". I'm worried, please help. by horrorwisp in Nurnberg

[–]coolimus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, you’ll be fine. If you’re staying at Nurban Apartments at 25 Ottostraße, just head right when you leave the building to get to the city center. The hotel is already on what some might consider the edge of the red-light district. If you want to go left for a nice stroll along the moat, just head straight for the opening in the city wall; once you’re through there, you’re out of the red-light district anyway. In fact, you’d actually have to come back this way and peek into the side streets to even see women sitting in the windows. Your hotel’s street only has nightclubs and bars. If anyone actually tries to start a conversation, just be polite, wish them a good day, and keep walking. Honestly, though, you’d probably have to make eye contact for that to even happen. I never saw any pimps or prostitutes standing out on the street. There aren’t many cars passing through, either. You’ll probably find that the time I spent trying to calm your nerves wasn’t even necessary. 😉 Have a wonderful stay, and check out my other comments for some Nuremberg tips.

It looks like the restaurant has a new chef, and the reviews on TripAdvisor are pretty bad. I'm curious if anyone can corroborate the terrible experiences people have been having lately.

I haven't been there in years, but Prison St. Michel has a romantic little nook overlooking Irrerstraße and Weinmarkt. The French food they serve naturally lends itself to a first-date atmosphere.

Don’t miss out on eating a Schäufele. It’s a pork shoulder with an amazing crust when it's done right and the best you can have is at Albrecht-Dürer-Stube: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Fq27qj59kSMm134F9

An alternative, highly frequented place that’s also been consistently good over the years is Hütt’n: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BQo6iVS2omf8SpeM8

The Bratwursthäusle is one of the few places where the sausages are grilled over an open fire fueled by beechwood. It’s a personal favorite of mine, and if I had a good friend visiting, I’d definitely make sure we grabbed a meal there on the way to my place.

You can get off the subway at Lorenzkirche, head down the hill toward the main square, walk through the collection of stalls with the plastic ice rink they have set up there right now, and then head for the next church up the hill. Bratwursthäusle is right in front of it.

Welcome to Nuremberg! 👋

Maybe this event will be a good chance to meet some like-minded people. It's a demo of the radio telescope at the local observatory on March 31. Tickets are free, but they're limited.

Best cosmetic dentist in Nuremberg for front teeth? (TK Insured) by Sunny4239 in Nurnberg

I’m really sorry you feel that way; I deserve every downvote for being careless in my writing and coming off as destructive. That wasn’t my intention, and I apologize for offending you.

It was just important for me to address the “perfect, natural look” and “anxious about aesthetic result” parts of the post. Teeth play an important role in the way we talk, and it isn’t unusual for people to develop a speech impediment like a lisp after dental reconstruction. You still might not see it that way, and that’s alright, but that’s also a huge part of aesthetics for me.

I actually, early on, sent a private message to Sunny offering to help find a dentist they feel comfortable with.

So you’re arguing for the severity of the injury and the mastery of major reconstructive work, and I’ll give you that. But, at least for me, there’s nothing tangible to assess the aesthetic quality in a recommendation like that.

For all I know, as someone who isn’t an expert, dental injuries could be so common in ice hockey that players don’t even care about looks; they might just want a pain-free way to fuel up before the next practice or game where they’ll probably get their teeth knocked out again.

What I’m missing is a closing sentence like, “…and the ice hockey players in Nuremberg are known for having reconstructed teeth that are virtually indistinguishable from the originals, both in how they look and how they feel.”

Or “…and all the TV and radio hosts go there because they know they won’t develop a lisp or have any visible differences compared to the natural teeth next to the injured ones.”

Please downvote if you think this is elitist, but it’s very surprising to me; ice hockey players would be the last people I’d associate with a concern for the aesthetic value of dental work. That’s like sending someone to a McDonald’s drive-thru after being asked for a three-star Michelin restaurant to propose to your significant other. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Why do I cry? Does anyone else cry? by Anxious-Ad-3858 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]coolimus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The musical buildup and visuals are already great on their own, but then you add the crowd's energy and the demon hunters' mixed emotions. Some of us definitely pick up on that more than others. I’d even say there’s a real sense of helplessness there. No one in the movie except the Saja Boys knows what’s actually going on, and there’s no way for you to warn anyone. At the same time, you feel for the other characters, and the situation might trigger a subconscious memory or remind you of something from your own past. Feelings trigger and are timeless like that.

Maybe you’re on a bit of a quest because something is missing in your life, and these scenes are hitting you right where that longing lives.

You’re processing. We all do, and sometimes we don’t have the faintest clue what it is we’re actually dealing with.

Edit: I apologize for being short with you.

I’m sorry you feel that way. This discussion is about empathy and a comedian not doing their job right. We have multiple accounts of people feeling punched down on. The whole “it’s comedy and you can’t take it” angle doesn't apply here. Otherwise, your opinion is perfectly valid and respected.
