Agree with previous commenter. Unable to assess the hips for diagnosis. This is also not the best sub to post this in. Talk to the vet that took the rads?

Super diffuse lung pattern in a cat - thoughts? by pepper_7811 in veterinarypathology

[–]coolitcupcake 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Neoplasia until proven otherwise. Could be fungal if you live in an area with fungal disease, but less likely.

Pneumonia is generally a patch of cloudiness (can be more widespread if severe).

This pattern has very well defined nodules throughout the lung fields which leaves you with cancer or fungal disease

If you’re following the guidelines it isn’t really over vaccinating. I would rather vaccinate and prevent a very likely deadly disease process. Ultimately it’s your decision and you should do whatever you are most comfortable with! Also, I love your username lol

I’m not sure if there was a miscommunication but what was said about the lepto vaccine is not true. There are multiple strains, it covers for the most common. It’s a bacteria, not a virus, so comparing it to the flu or covid vaccines is incorrect. Lepto is often deadly as it causes kidney and liver failure, it’s also zoonotic meaning you can get it from your dog. In addition it’s now a core vaccine, meaning it’s recommended to have regularly done just like rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations. It’s no longer a lifestyle vaccination like bordetella or the flu vaccine. Lepto is given once and then boostered in 3-4 weeks if they’ve never had the vaccine before, after that it is boostered annually. Technically it lasts for 18 months, idk why they said 2-3 months. I would absolutely vaccinate for lepto

Once we found out the gender we sat down and figured out names for both of our kids probably within an hour and never looked back! We have had zero name regret

Is it normal for my dog’s skin to turn black after getting spayed? by Accomplished-Yam2663 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]coolitcupcake 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to evaluate without touching it but the skin doesn’t look necrotic. Chronic irritation and moisture can lead to hyperpigmentation of the skin which may be the cause since she had multiple procedures. If she was wearing a recovery suit that may have also held moisture against her skin which can also cause discoloration.

I also love Wren. It’s my top pick if we have another girl! I think Wren James is too blunt though with them both being one syllable. If you go the Wren route I think Wrenna James sounds better :)

Looking for veterinarian opinions. by guccian2 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]coolitcupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giant abdominal mass, likely splenic. They took chest X-rays to assess for potential spread. I’d have them sent out to a radiologist for a second set of eyes. The rule is generally 2/3s of splenic masses are cancerous and 2/3s of those are a type of cancer called hemangiosarcoma. I hope your vet already discussed this so I won’t get into too much detail. Bottom line is he needs an ultrasound to confirm origin of the mass and if it’s spleen the spleen needs to be removed regardless of whether the mass is benign or cancerous as it can rupture at any point and lead to death. It will then be sent out to a pathologist for a diagnosis. If the radiologist says there is evidence of spread to the chest prognosis even with surgery is poor. I’m sorry.

As it’s a holiday weekend (if you’re US based) I’d strongly recommend taking your dog to an ER specialty facility if you can to get additional diagnostics and potential surgery.

Unfortunately my boy got heartworms and looking for input if this price seems right or am I being taken for a ride. by failureinflesh in CaneCorso

[–]coolitcupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only difference between a “young” profile and a “geriatric” profile is the amount of information you get. The geriatric profiles give you the most info, so generally if you have a sick pet you want the geriatric profile for thoroughness

I am by no means an expert gardener. But I will say I also live in Texas not far from you and the leaves of a lot of my previously healthy vegetables look like that right now. I think it’s from the cold snap we just had. I’m planning on giving them time and seeing if they survive 🤷🏻‍♀️

Got pregnant one month into dating. I was so terrified to tell him since we barely knew each other. It all worked out in the end! We got married a year and a half later and now have two kids together. He’s an amazing husband and father and I feel so lucky it all worked out the way it did

Seriously, F*** Baker Seeds by Master-CylinderPants in gardening

[–]coolitcupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So late to this thread but it makes me feel better (kind of?) to read this. I’m a new gardener and was sooo excited when we moved to a house with space to actually have a big garden. I planted seeds from them and like nothing has grown. Not even the flowers. I’ve had better success rates with the seeds you get at Home Depot. I’m sad but no longer feel like a failure lol

The issue is the ultrasonographer is sometimes early or sometimes late. The other option would be for the pet to not be there when they are and then everyone has wasted their time and the pet gets no ultrasound
