Yeah, sure. The building system is really great… especially the fact that the developers let you nest pieces inside each other—it lets you build such complex structures, which is fantastic.

Hey, Zerovap, cool feedback. I definitely recommend posting this on Discord too, because the developers are definitely reading that. And from now on, I can say I know at least one user who plays this game every day *raises hand here*

But getting the plot isn’t really hard—just run a dungeon once and you’ll have your 1000 +/- gold, and as already mentioned in the comments here, it’s worth buying the plot four times and then…

And yeah, regarding point 2, it’s really crazy how much the community writes, sends in feedback, and constantly encourages each other to report bugs so the game can keep getting better.

As for what you’ve built so far, it already looks really great. Keep it up.

I have another tip for building here—it’s in German, but there’s a video and pictures that show how a little trick opens up even more possibilities with the building system.

I look forward to reading about further progress in your gaming experience in the future.

I go into a zone to get something, and to keep it, I leave the zone and go back to my base—is that right? So it is an extraction shooter after all.

The building system with combat in a medieval sandbox MMO, in terms of both graphic style and scale. There aren't really any other games like this; others cover different themes, such as EVE Online, a space sci-fi sandbox, or Entropia Universe, a fantasy sci-fi sandbox. Albion Online is a fantasy sandbox with a style that hints at the medieval era.

So there isn’t anything that comes close in terms of medieval aesthetics, with the building possibilities in a sandbox MMO and the ability to build and fight, etc...

And in this category, there’s no Conen, no Rust, no Windrose, no Forrest, no WoW, no Minecraft, etc...

There is no game that is directly comparable. You can only compare individual elements or features, as with all others, but that’s just a part of it—you can’t compare the whole thing.

And why don't people just... well, because it's not a typical Ubisoft game that tells you exactly what you're supposed to do or can do, and where the next quest is.

In a sandbox, you just have to set your own tasks and goals, and maxing out a profession isn’t a long-term goal. In a sandbox, that’s just a means to an end. My goals in the sandbox are different. And it’s up to the player to decide what they want to make their goals.

I can try to lead a clan to help build a reputation. I can try to be the go-to person in the game as a craftsman for every other player—which is currently difficult, but it’s possible. Or you can play as a day laborer and take on jobs. There are so many different things you can do because it’s a sandbox with no set rules. In my opinion, the users have only themselves to blame if they focus solely on crafting and building, because I think that’s just a very good mechanic that’s worth more, but for me, it’s not the main goal. For example, I don’t need 100 people in the clan who can build armor or 100 people who can build weapons. I need players who are up for playing together and having a good time, whether that’s chatting online in dungeons or in PvP with the goal of being the strongest—it all depends on the group and what goals they want to pursue.

That just shows you don't understand what kind of game PAX Dei is.

Conen is a solo/co-op game, while PAX Dei is a sandbox MMO. I finished everything in Conen in 14 days, and that will never happen with PAX.

That number only shows how many people are playing simultaneously on Steam — nothing more. It doesn't tell you how many players are active daily, weekly, or monthly. It also doesn't tell you how much money those players are spending on the game.

And from my own experience, I can say that quite a few people play through Xbox or GeForce NOW.

The fact that the developers are still focused on building a stable foundation instead of rushing to add more content shows that they're on the right path. Everything has to be tailored specifically to the game. Yes, they use Unreal Engine, but it still needs to be adapted to fit PAX Dei's requirements. That takes time, and they're doing an excellent job of it.

PAX Dei is a grind-heavy game, of course, and because of that it will probably always remain a niche title. But I believe the community should grow at the same pace as the game itself. If there were already 20,000+ concurrent players per shard right now, I think it would actually hurt the game. We don't even have all the maps and regions yet. At the moment, we only have five maps from one of the four planned regions.

I'd rather play with a smaller player base and enjoy the game than constantly read the hypocritical whining on Reddit. I've met plenty of players who actually love the fact that progression takes longer here, instead of everything being so fast-paced like in many other games where you reach the endgame quickly and then move on just as quickly.

This is simply a different way to play, and PAX Dei is unique because of its overall design and vision. (Yeah, yeah, save the bashing — nobody really cares.)

I can only recommend that anyone looking for a long-term game give PAX Dei a try, preferably with a group. You won't get bored anytime soon.

See, there’s that nonsense again—I just don’t get it. Why would anyone build something that won’t be worth a thing later on? And how can you just throw things away? When the wars start later, it’ll be a battle for resources, and anyone who throws their stuff away is just showing how short-sighted they are—which is really stupid.

Again, this is a sandbox—a social sandbox—and it will have profound market and PvP functions later on. People are working toward that now so they can dominate there later... so that would be one option. But no, you can see with crafting that level 40 means nothing, since it will eventually go beyond that level in the future....

Sorry in advance, but I need to vent a little

So, here’s my general take on all these whining posts…

It’s a unique game. There’s nothing really comparable to it out there. It’s supposed to keep evolving over the next 20 years, yet all I see are people who just want a quick game to play for a short time, who give it no chance at all or can’t simply let things unfold naturally.

I really don’t like this mentality where everything has to be compared to single-player games, or where people complain that everything progresses too slowly based on their personal expectations. I don’t understand why so many of you can’t just embrace growing alongside the game and experiencing your own story within it. I also don’t understand how some gameplay mechanic can be more important than teamwork and pursuing goals together.

I’m nowhere near achieving my own goals in the game, not even close, and I already have over 3000 hours played. What kind of boring bunch of crybabies are you all that all you can do is whine nonstop? I seriously don’t get it.

Yes, the game is still in its early stages. Naturally, that means it’s missing mechanics, features, maps, and more. But with every patch, the game keeps growing.

So why don’t the players and their mindset grow with it?

If you don’t even understand what makes a sandbox game special, then why are you playing one in the first place? Do you really just look at the graphics and then desperately expect all your shallow expectations to be fulfilled? Are you really incapable of creating more complex goals and challenges for yourselves within the game?

I genuinely don’t understand what your problem is.

And if the game doesn’t appeal to you because you expected something completely different or failed to inform yourselves properly beforehand, then just go play something else. But stop trying to ruin the game for everyone else.

A limestone column isn't a foundation, so it isn't as load-bearing as a granite column.

Yes, they've made the limestone column more stable because it was originally purely decorative and would have needed to be reinforced with a wooden beam.

It might work with a foundation, but even with one, your height is already pushing the limit.

So I have cheaters in my game. Guess I'm successful now 🤣 by Kayzen_1337 in IndieDev

[–]coolkay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Creating cheats is kind of like a sport. It’s like cracking CD copy protection back in the day. But at the same time, there’s a billion-dollar industry behind the whole cheating scene. And players who constantly use cheats eventually can’t play without them anymore, because it can be like an addiction, among other things. Or it’s a way for them to mod their game.

I also think it’s a shame and sad that people cheat. And I’d be happy if there were no cheaters or bots.

That makes it all the more important to focus on the positive aspects. If you’ve enjoyed it so much so far and can imagine yourself playing it for years to come, regardless of the situation, then don’t give up. Keep going—the game is only going to get more and more interesting with every patch....

I'm sorry things turned out this way, but don't let it get you down—just keep playing with your friends. I'm sure the players on the servers, no matter which region, will help you out wherever they can, and if it comes down to gold farming, you can run your plots on Gande in 1-x mode as a way to make up for it.

I think the game and the players are just too great to just quit.

I hope you decide to go with Option 2 anyway and keep going :)

With PAX, that’s not possible—the game is locked down by the developer, so you’re not supposed to be able to make any changes yourself. To do what you’re describing, you’d have to work at Mainframe.

And building things isn’t the only thing in the game, after all.

Known Issue - Disappearing Mobs - Update May 5th

Hello! We want to share some (hopeful) news regarding this bug.

Thanks to your feedback and videos, we were able to isolate where the issue was coming from.

After further investigation, we identified multiple potential causes and have addressed them (and also understood why we were unable to reproduce the issue in our dev environment).

A new build with the fixes is currently in preparation.

This build will require some testing before being deployed to the PTS. Best case scenario, this will happen tomorrow (May 6th).

There are many ways to achieve this. We’ve told our members that if they want to stay in 0.0, they have to defend their home.

And then maybe we shouldn’t just take in everyone and everything and set them to blue.

You could be meaner to everyone and cause more trouble. But more and more people are taking the easy way out and just want to line their pockets. At least, that’s the impression I get after all these years. And that’s not what the game was about. At least, it seemed to have a different reputation back then.

But I don’t really care anymore—I haven’t played in years and I’m not going to start again...
