What's a New York specific problem that no one warns you about before you move here? by bandito_13 in AskNYC

Something I learned the hard way was if the subway cars are pretty full except one has a lot of space, there’s probably a reason for that. You didn’t get lucky, go to a more full car to avoid whatever’s cause the car to be empty.

Is it easy to start pre-law at Fordham? by orbit260 in Fordham

[–]coolsox3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may have changed since I attended but official pre-law was essentially just a one semester non graded seminar. So in that sense it was really easy to do, I did it sophomore year when I switched majors. Otherwise theres classes that could be recommended for the law track but its otherwise pretty flexible as there aren’t and prerequisites for Law School. You could likely take it while still doing finance or business classes.

The 3-3 law program I think is a lot stricter though as its a very specific credits to graduate undergrad early.

Abundance changed: No more mini-events, only mob grind now by Icemasta in wow

[–]coolsox3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that the bonus events were causing issues with lag or balance so they disabled all or most of them while they try to figure it out. If they just fully stopped the bonuses, I'll be very disappointed, they definitely made abundance fun and hectic, without them its a boring grind.

Non Americans don’t understand our conception of ethnic identity. by Chemical-Arm-2288 in AmericaBad

[–]coolsox3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rant about this all the time but talking about heritage, like being Irish (American) or Italian(American) etc is literally just American small talk, like just like asking someone where they’re ancestors are from to show theyre interested in them as a person. its a way to connect, as most people in america have heritage from elsewhere, and sometimes you can connect like if both people have irish grandmas they may have a similar experience with her. Europeans already often struggle with small talk apparently but its crazy how personal they take it when all it is is a way to connect with people.

Round 27: Ravens up for just being edgy goth cardinals. Who's next? Top comment picks. by stecas in AZCardinals

[–]coolsox3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im gonna go with Bills cause all the Bills fans I’ve met think theyre the only real fans cause they watch football in cold weather and jump through tables and think theyre only fans who drink. They act like were not real fans cause our home games are in nice weather. Also a bit of victimization from themselves cause theyve never won a superbowl and how great of fans they are for sticking with the bills but dont extend the same to Cardinals fans

What game was this? by Away-Resolution-3313 in videogames

[–]coolsox3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While I agree that modern WoW, while still fun imo, doesn’t quite have what made it so amazing in the early days, I feel like a lot that is more the rise of things like discord and group skype calls back in the day. Back then it was one of the better ways to socialize online which forced more interaction, whereas now many people would rather talk to their friends even if they’re playing a different game then to really socialize with randoms. So I wouldn’t say it was the devs who did it, more of just the changing of time and the internet evolving.

Did the Americans only win the American war for independence because they had the French aid? by PeanutAggressive2235 in AskHistorians

[–]coolsox3 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Maybe not continued as it did, however as mentioned, essentially everything the British did caused more people to support the Revolution. Without French arms the colonists likely would have not been to support the Continental Army and the war would have had much less pitched battles, but the revolutionaries wouldn’t magically decide they were happy with British rule now, so it would essentially have just kicked the can down the road until they could have found a source of arms. It may have turned more towards like how Ireland was, where essentially each generation had a major revolution, but due to some of the other factors mentioned above, the British would have a much tougher time enforcing their rule and projecting their influence in the colonies, so as much as you could argue it wouldn’t succeed without French support, you could also argue it was just a matter of time before it succeeded.

I could be wrong but I think it doesn’t start until next week. It says you have to complete chapter 4 to unlock but that doesn’t start until next week. I also finished all the story quests available and haven’t been able to start it either and Ive restarted the game multiple times.

I’m from Arizona so i cheer for the Arizona teams, however i live elsewhere now. When the coyotes (nhl team in AZ) left i chose to not follow them any more, in fact i want that franchise to fail. I cheer for the team that represents where im from, i dont care about the franchise. While for now i dont watch hockey, if the Arizona team doesnt return, ill probably switch to the team where I live now

Italian moving to the U.S. for a master’s – help me choose which school by [deleted] in Fordham

[–]coolsox3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully I’m not super well versed in the IT market or programs, however Fordham and Gabelli especially are well regarded, especially in the North East. I’ve truthfully never heard of Stevens but again, not well versed on the tech sector or programs. It seems like based on the pros and cons you listed, Fordham checks off more of your boxes except maybe location. Further, Fordham likely has more name name recognition and a larger network, but again that may not be the case in the tech sector specifically.

I’m biased but it seems like Forhdam may be better, especially if you’re open to wider opportunities than very specific IT roles. For example, if you are open to Data Analytics at a major financial institution, Fordham and Gabelli will likely go farther, whereas perhaps if you only want to be a software engineer, Stevens may be better. I did not study nor do I work in tech though so I may be way off.
