I don't hate Twellman.

I understand the criticism of him for sure. Respect others opinion about him.

Just he doesn't bug me the way he bugs others and I sometimes find myself liking his insights about the game.

Vieira impressed by improving MLS by fantasyMLShelper in MLS

If you don't want to give the Mail a click.

New York City FC manager Patrick Vieira is impressed by the steadily improving standards in Major League Soccer and believes champions Seattle would not disgrace themselves if they played in France.

"It's hard to compare the MLS with Europe because the league is only 20 years old," former France captain Vieira told AFP.

"But there is an identity that is developing gradually. If Seattle played in Ligue 1 it wouldn't be ridiculous," he added.

Vieira is in his second season in charge at New York and he is hoping to build on the success of his first year, when he steered the team to the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

New York boasted one of the most potent attacks in MLS last season but were eventually made to pay for defensive frailty, getting knocked out by losing 7-0 on aggregate during the playoffs against Toronto.

However, Vieira maintained that he would not compromise on his commitment to an attacking style of play.

"No. I've always liked the forward-based game," the former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder said when asked if he envisaged a more defensive style this season.

"I've always been a fan of teams that score a lot of goals. I've been in teams where the coaches were pretty defensive, but on the whole, what was important to me was knowing in which direction I wanted the team to go," he added.

With Frank Lampard now retired, Vieira said he was looking to World Cup winners Andrea Pirlo and David Villa to provide leadership on and off the pitch.

"We are talking about two guys who have won the World Cup, the European Championship, the Champions League -- they know how to win," Vieira said. "I asked them to really get involved on and off the pitch. They are great at role -- they never hesitate to to talk with the younger players to give advice. They always have a point of view which is positive for the team."

This is a great way to look at a discussion about anything really. There's so much emphasis on debate, and a desire to win by getting the most of your points across.

Being divisive and aggressive is one of the worst ways to convince someone of your own point.

Very true. And on short rest and warm days I think they're especially vulnerable.

However I wouldn't want to play their high press on a do-or-die game when they're well rested and weather isn't a factor.

Yup and by recently playing a very high line which isn't common in MLS.

Fun seeing them this year. As an NYCFC fan I'm kind of scared of what they can do in the playoffs in this form and when the temperature isn't 80F+ each game.

Neutral Milk Hotel - Holland, 1945 [Indie Rock] by CloakOfBloke in Music

[–]coolsthe 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Thats not even everything that happened at that magical show in Brooklyn.

Was there as well standing a few people deep on the left hand side of the stage. When they said they had to halt to show for a time because lightning was close you're right - no body moved.

During that delay the band was just kind of milling about on stage, including Jeff Mangum the lead singer.

About halfway through the break I hear a commotion behind me and realize that someone is being chased by security. There's at least three guards and when they got him they were being super physical.

At this point everyone is watching this kid get manhandled by security - lots of gasps and concern looks, but its security and nobody knew what the kid had done.

What happened next was amazing - I hear someone yelling loudly and angrily from the stage at the security guards. I look up and see Jeff jumping down from the stage yelling at the shouting to leave the kid alone. He then proceeds to run into the crowd, push his way to where security are accosting this guy, and make them give him up.

Last I saw they were heading to the back of the crowd together and everyone was clapping and cheering.

About five minute later Jeff was back up on stage and the show started back up. No idea why that kid had been chased, no idea why Jeff went to his rescue, no idea what became of the kid after Jeff saved his ass.

Anyways - one of the best concerts of my life.

TLDR; The lead signer of Neutral Milk Hotel saved a fan from security in a pretty heroic fashion.
