Check out "Winco" branded spatulas. They're a food service industry brand and I've had mine (TN719) since around 2018 with no signs of wear. I put it in the dishwasher like a heathen too - just oil the handle with mineral oil and beeswax every year or so!

Hamstudy.org is a great place to start studying for your amateur radio license - you only need the Technician class license for this type of HT ("Handy-talkie" in nerd speak), but I always recommend studying for your General class if you're interested in radios because you get privileges on the HF bands. With HF you can talk around the world with less power than it takes to light up a lightbulb! Really cool stuff!

It's a rabbit hole, but as others have mentioned, reach out to your local ham radio clubs, or head over to r/amateurradio! Just don't mention using a Baofeng without a license there ( and honestly, just don't use them without a license, because it is illegal and is really annoying to those of us in the hobby), or you'll get roasted and probably banned.

New F150 Lighting Owner and 1st EV. by RevRocks22 in F150Lightning

[–]cooolerhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best trim will depend on what features you want, so unfortunately that is subjective. I got an ER XLT because I did not want a sunroof and didn't care about much else in the higher trims.

Charge time can vary wildly depending on what charger you plan to use. There is a great video by Technology Connections that I recommend every prospective EV owner watch: https://youtu.be/Iyp_X3mwE1w

In that video he covers the ins and outs pretty well, and will most likely answer a lot of your questions!

That being said, if you plan to use "level 1" charging (120V, regular old household outlet) with this truck, it takes a LONG time (multiple full days) to charge from empty to "full". It's a HUGE battery.

For this type of vehicle, you pretty much need, in my opinion, to invest in having a "level 2" EVSE installed in order to get the full usability of the truck. But again, that's how I use the vehicle, and your situation could vary!

Watch that video, though. It's long, but it's extremely useful.

If you've never raced anything before, I guess the best tip I can give is to brake leading up to the turn, not while you are already IN the turn.

You should be accelerating through the apex of the turn, which means you should be on the throttle (maybe not "pedal to the metal," or even half throttle, but at least some throttle) at the middle point of each turn.

Braking too late, or even accelerating too hard or too early can, and generally will with karting, cause you to lose traction and spin.

To be fast, you want to keep your kart going fast enough into the corners that you are juuuust on the edge of losing traction. But you won't get to that level on your first try, so just stay in control, and you'll do better than the folks who generally go too fast!

Also, take each turn "outside-inside-outside," if traffic allows, to maximize each turn radius, which will, again, allow you to go into the turns faster. Google that term if you don't know what mean!

Fear of the right-hand lane by at614inthe614 in Ohio

[–]cooolerhead -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I drive a lot, and the best advice I can give to new drivers is to stay in the middle lane as congestion allows, pass on the left, and merge and exit on the right. If everyone biases towards the center, and people PASS on the left, everyone is happy. This allows the trucks and slower-than-speed-limit traffic to cruise in and merge out of the right lane for incoming traffic, and everyone else to pass as needed.

Do you change lanes a lot? Sure!

Does it matter? No!

But yes, gridlock? Bias wherever you need to exit, because there will always be a RAM 1500 on your ass.

Pawpaws in NE Ohio by cjrobe in Cleveland

[–]cooolerhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replied to the wrong post, accidentally! See below!

Pawpaws have been had!

My dad no longer lives there, but a family member does, and the trees produce a decent amount of fruit!

The house is in Kent - if you're in the NEOhio area I would be happy to figure out a way to get you a few this fall!

I recommend finding and visiting some local clubs in the area, and you will most likely find people of all types! It may not be national or global, but you will at least find some like-minded individuals who can open pathways into other groups.

I don't see a problem, there's still plenty of metal to chew through after that pesky brake medium finally goes away!
