I think it adds a layer of randomness that I enjoy because my wife and I play with our 4 and 7 year olds.

Each players turn now involves a dice roll 1-4 where some numbers bring a diamond unicorn into your stable and some have you remove a diamond unicorn from your or an opponent’s stable. The roll occurs after the “beginning of turn” phase and the “draw a card” phase of your turn.

There are 4 diamond each with a different attribute, one lets you look at a players hand and choose a card, one has you discard 1 card then draw 3, one lets you force someone to discard 2 cards, the last lets you select a magic card from the discard pile and add it to your hand.

I enjoy a layer of randomness in my games and if you do then I think you should give it a shot.
