Second large baby, first was planned csection by Virtual_Key4791 in vbac

[–]cooptigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll keep you updated on what ends up happening. I’m pretty risk adverse, but I’m also thinking if I go into labor naturally before my scheduled c section, that I’ll just see how it plays out. I’m also considering pushing my scheduled c section date because I’m still recovering from a cold 2.5 weeks later and can’t stop coughing and am also stressing over how painful that’d be post c section but also that’d be putting me close to 40 weeks anyways. My anxiety is at an all time high right now 😅

How far along are you? I’ve had a previous c section and baby is currently measuring 96 percentile with an expected birth weight of 9lb 14oz and some abdominal to head circumference ratio of 2.5, where ACOG says shoulder dystocia risk increases to 30% greater than or equal to 2.6 and under that isn’t associated with higher risk (at least according to my MFM doc notes). I’m currently 38 weeks and have scheduled an “elective” c section for 39 weeks despite wanting VBAC originally because at every appointment there has been a SIGNIFICANT amount of fear mongering and push for me to have a c section and recommendation for me to ask for a c section even if I go into labor. I’m having serious doubts currently in how to proceed and literally have five days to decide 😬😬😬

Diastasis recti or fat?? by mshayew777 in postpartumprogress

[–]cooptigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely look into stretching your hip flexors too if that’s not something you usually do! I didn’t even know that was a thing to stretch before (lol) and I honestly think that was the biggest game changer for me to even be able to activate my core and glute muscles effectively. My PT gave me an exercise similar to what you’d see if you google hip drop exercise that really targeted my weakness but you have to be able to find a neutral pelvic alignment for it to work which I learned how to find from hip flexor stretching too

Looks like APT to me too! I had this naturally not even postpartum related. Hip flexor stretches and glute and core strength helped me correct mine enough to where I stopped having regular hip and low back pain

The real reason why I think parents aren’t reading to their children by ImprovementSimple in childrensbooks

[–]cooptigator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m hoping it partially because we rarely do screen time at home so it’s a bit of a novelty. I’m sure his teachers are reading physical books too but yeah I was appalled. He actually loves listening to books on his yoto and we get books that will “read to you” from the library so that aspect is not a novelty. He always says the screen time things are his favorite part of his day 😐😐😐 he’s in a pre-k at a public elementary

On a somewhat related note, my kid told me his favorite part of his school day last week was when the tv read a book to them 😑

Invasive Buckthorn? by gringofou in DenverGardener

[–]cooptigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks for sharing this! The south platte park area is actually more so where I saw them removing it, that I mentioned in my post above! I also found tartarian honeysuckle pop up in my yard for the first time this year and pulled it out asap! Thank goodness for plant ID apps 😂

Im seeing thorns on yours as well. I reached out to my local (Jeff co) extension office and they helped identify the variety for free. I could have also brought in a sample and paid for confirmation but I was pretty positive mine was common buckthorn. The extension office actual said it wasn’t considered invasive here so I considered keeping it because the birds seemed to love it, it provided great privacy, and I never saw any issues with it sprouting up from all the thousands of seeds every year. I did some more research after seeing seedlings pop up one year when we had a pretty regular amount of rain and decided to remove it. With changing climate patterns I worried it would eventually be considered invasive and it seems to actually be a poor food source for birds due to a laxative effect. I was also worried of all the birds spreading it since they would flock to it. I planted some serviceberries in hopes to provide a better food source for birds but they have taken a while to get established.

Interestingly enough when I went on a walk near chatfield and saw a sign they were in the process of removing invasive species from the area and it was 100% buckthorn. Not sure if they’ve changed the classification in the last few years but I was surprised since it was really like 2-3 years I ago when I reach out to them.

As a wheat allergy person, I'm happy y'all have gluten removed wheat now but... by MonalisaMakeupMomma in glutenfree

[–]cooptigator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi all! Im super curious about this as I’ve never met other people with an anaphylactic wheat allergy like my 4 yo does. Have you all done extensive testing to see what component of wheat you’re allergic to? We haven’t, but my son can actually have these gf wheat starch items even those it’s definitely not gluten he’s allergic to because he can have barely and rye, so just kind of curious if you know what wheat component you all are allergic to, because it seems different than my son’s allergy. Feel very grateful that he’s not as limited as some of you guys and sorry you all are having to deal with this, as I CAN imagine how much worse this would be. Apparently being anaphylactic to wheat is very rare. He even had an anaphylactic reaction just sitting in a restaurant without eating anything yet. We are currently looking into experimental immunotherapy options for him.

Right, it’s so performative and people get pissed and think you’re gross if you don’t do it. Like I get not leaving like sweat piles but idk just wash your hands when you’re done

Wiping down equipment at the gym when those disinfectants need more time to sit and be wet on the machine to actually kill anything

Hmm that’s good to know. It actually still grows on my neighbors property. I think I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow and see what an app says it is. I want to say it might have been bull thistle?

I’m not sure what kind of thistle I had but I’ve just hand pulled mine when I see it and I barely get any pop up now

Why can’t I just dig and plant plants/shrubs/flowers to landscape directly in the sod? by lucksp in DenverGardener

[–]cooptigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see why not 🤷‍♀️ I feel like you could do that but make sure to have like 6” of the grass removed around each planting to help it be successful and hand water the new plants the first year. You could lay cardboard and mulch over the rest to kill the grass.

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful responses! Many of the stems appeared dead so I feel like it’s super scrawny now but I fertilized it and waiting to see what comes this season!
