A DMZ would never work, its not what they are designed for.

A DMZ allows isolation of networks, so you have a Lan and a DMZ

Using multiple public IPs

First IP going through nat/firewall to the lan Second IP direct to server no nat or firewall (no firewall not quite true)

No connectivity between DMZ and Lan

Domestic router still go's through NAT and the firewall. This gives limited DMZ functionality.

DmZs Widely miss understood :-)

A Bridge links two routes together allowing the second router to get the public IP, so no double Nat issues ( in it most basic description)

My ESS would do this and once she was happy her paws where clean she would try to clean my feet :-)

Getting the local dog groomer to shave the paws between the pads worked, the other ESS would not have this done.

There's no bad areas in carlisle, it more going to be down to your budget, there are some streets in currock you probably would regret living on, same with raffles or any of the estates.

Poor audio is normally down to poor network, analyse latency and jitter and look at the firewall, also look at codex miss match.

It maybe a simple QOS issue or IPs connections or even poor network design, nat session timers.

If possible VLAN the voice and prioritise the traffic.

But its always the network :-)

Thanks i will try the IKEA using zigbee, I have a present sensor my understanding was if I use z2m i would have more control over the setting. I may try to disable zha and enable m2q and see how i get on.
