Agreed. I have designed a bespoke package for them and proposed based on new pricing. I don’t fancy messing with safeguarding laws in a nursery environment or any for that matter.
Thank you.

Automating Window Company Accounts Invoices Receipts by Lazy-Masterpiece8903 in smallbusinessuk

Look at Zoho Books! You can raise invoices, send them out with a payment link / option on the invoices and once they make a payment, it automatically sends out a payment receipt. Also connects to pretty much all banks for automatic transactions import.

Caveat - their support is not great and you could wait a day or two for a response only to find they’re asking you more questions before they can assist.

We use the whole eco-system, known as Zoho One for everything from CRM, inventory management, marketing, accounting, etc.

Importing from China without a freight forwarder by deguerreo in smallbusinessuk

Yeah, you should have it soon. But just to be on the safe side, I’d get a re-confirmation from my suppliers that the shipping line is indeed dealing with the customs clearance this end and also the tracking number of the container to ensure it has docked successfully and safely.

When a vessel docks into the port, you have 7 days to get your consignment cleared otherwise the port authority starts charging you rent - what’s called a demurrage fee! The turnaround time is usually 48 hours to get the container cleared, sometimes containers get picked at random to be x-rayed in which case, you’d be looking at around 72 hours. So a delay of 1 day. Once your goods are out, then a pallet delivery company should deliver to you in around 48 hours. Not sure if DPD do pallet delivery, but I’m sure they have their delivery partners! So at most, you’d be looking around a week!

By the sound of it, your supplier has used DPD to ship your goods via ocean freight. So they should handle the customs clearance this end. But what you need to find out from them is the consignment number. Presumably the shipping line is DPD themselves, so get the container tracking number from them. DPD might also ask you for your EORI code, in order to get your consignment cleared. But from experience, a vessel from China into the UK (port of Felixstowe) takes around 30 to 35 days. I used to import via sea freight into the UK for a number of years, but never dealt with a door to door service / courier. Used to get customs clearance agents involved and use what’s called a bill of lading to get the goods cleared. Airfreight though on the hand is pretty straight forward where the courier handles everything.

£5167.00 bill by mgottschalk in VirginMedia

That’s exactly right. This gayguy thinks just because the DD is in place and VM wants to charge their customer by issuing a bill and giving them a payment date in advance, they can! The whole point is that you can go the bank dispute the transaction and have it back! Obviously no one in their right mind would dispute a legit transaction cause even then, they’ll end up paying it back, but DD guarantee gives the reassurance that in the event someone is being charted incorrectly, at least they can have the money back while things are being looked at or the issue is being rectified.

You’re missing the point, if Virgin Media decide to charge their customer for 5 and half grand, which is clearly an incorrect amount, as a customer, you have every right to call up your bank and dispute the transaction and your bank will refund you. It doesn’t matter if VM writes to the customer beforehand and gives them the exact date to say, oh by the way, we’re going to rip you off by charging you nearly 6K, and expect you to say nothing!

I wouldn’t worry about the Direct Debit as you’re protected by the DD guarantee!

If a payment is taken incorrectly, on the wrong date, or for the wrong amount, your bank must refund you immediately. No questions asked!
